@aloha-hoosier you may dislike the party leadership and I can see why. However, you can look across aisle and see the pure insanity that is brewing and will be the main stream soon. You can’t leave now.
No worries, the Dem Party is absolutely not for me, even more so as the insane shit grows. MAGA culture is not for me either. It’s not a good time politically.

Didn't you vote for Biden?
Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.

...well my business shit is starting to fall into place very very nicely.
I am in the high end catering business and it has really sucked. We do the kinds of events you quote and sign contracts months in advance and with very specific choices, such as foods and beverages. When the tariffs come (and go) and when high end groceries keep going up and up, I cannot rely on the margins that used to 100% keep things afloat. I now have month-to-month staffing decisions. Affordability isn't a hoax and it doesn't just affect the fixed income people. My vote for DJT was a mistake since other than the border I am getting the opposite of what he sold me on (low inflation, job growth, deficit and even debt reduction, no wars, clean up the corruption, do something on health care, etc.). There is nobody to vote for.
There is nobody to vote for.
The more I look at the ever-increasing national debt and the implications therein, the more certain I am there won't be any good choices moving forward other than pain (which neither party will advocate) or the incredibly rapid and explosive expansion of our GDP by over 50% due to the AI revolution.
Of course, that has tremendous downsides for some period of time if it does work well enough to do the above.
In short, we're probably fucked.
@socks-shorts-1-2-3-swish high end catering not doing well. I’m actually surprised to hear that. K economy. I have many many rich friends. Honestly most of my friends are rich. I am not. But they are spending like mother fckrs. Oh my kid is going to college. We’re going to look at getting a house there. Omg vacation was so great. We’re actually looking at houses there. I assumed they’d be all in on high end catering.
the middle class and poors forget it.
yes tariffs are horrific.
trump has been dogshit. I’ll vote for Publix safety and lowest taxes so I’m sure it’ll be a Republican. And that’s with no enthusiasm
We do a lot of weddings and it is a one-time splurge for the not-always rich, so they do look for deals. Which I get. But when I am pricing steak dinner for 50 people in March 2027 in a quote locked in today, there's a lot of guesswork. And my guesswork 12 months ago wasn't for the prices that I have now. My suppliers don't lock in prices that far out but I have to. And I didn't even get into the transportation costs right now and for the past 6 months.
@socks-shorts-1-2-3-swish oh man got it. Yeah that is rough

Technically I voted against Trump and Biden’s reputation was that he was a moderate and the expectation was he’d only serve one term. It was really a throwaway vote. There was no chance Trump was losing Ohio.
@aloha-hoosier MAGA culture is highly checked by moderate conservatism. DSA looniness grows by the day. Logarithmic growth.
I think many cosplay MAGA for the memes and jokes - because it is funny. There’s nothing funny about our youth and Never-Had-a-Real-Job Democrat leadership careening us towards the end times.

Only because in Ohio, his vote didn't matter... Or some stupid shit like that. IIRC.
Divorce BEFORE you make any money! Do it quickly, do it often!
@joe_hoopsier it’s not that stupid. Trump is a jackass and I can see not voting for him in a state in which he’s going to win anyways.
Ro is exceptionally bright. I don’t get it. Maybe just puts his political promotion above everything else and found a Dem lane and sticking to the script
It's b/c we allow everyone to vote. We'll be the frogs that vote ourselves into the pot.
Democracy is the price we pay for not having heads on spikes.

True. Even when some heads deserve to be on spikes.
