This doesn't have to be a partisan issue. Stop listening to the politicians.

2020 is six years ago. Let it go.

But . . . what we should do w/r/t foreign interference and influence is always a germane question in a democracy, especially in the internet and social media age:

@bradstevens it’s an interesting topic. No idea how to prevent interference but we must.    Influence.  Presupposing it’s not misinformation comes in all varieties.  We’ve got cori bush and Wesley bell running here in my district.  That’s who will go to dc. Both black.  One hood black in cori. You know what the number one topic in the race has been?  Not Cori’s record. Her theft. Her husband she funded improperly.  Not what Wesley bell hasn’t done the last four years in dc. AIPAC. That is what the race is about. AIPAC funding bell. Not one issue in stl. Two candidates who grew up likely not even knowing a single Jewish person.  Where the issues are crime cost of living and schools.

Global shit is a big part of what the reps do and I think foreign influence, not interference, is expected.  It’s just wild to see that as the main topic for two blacks representing the worst neighborhoods in the Midwest

I just AI’d it, and found out the British and French governments were paying newspaper men pre- and post-Revolution to affect American opinions.

So the practice is as old as our Republic. Agree, though, that current tech makes it much more dangerous.

Its not wild. Bush is playing into anti-semitism. Powerful force. See it warping views all the time on this very board.

People are unwilling to admit our elections aren’t secure because that would mean agreeing with Trump on something.  It’s that simple.  Accusing anyone wanting to discuss it of claiming that the election was stolen is a small mind’s way of shutting down meaningful discussion.

We can't have meaningful discussion if from the jump you attribute bad motives to the other side.

I'm not sure the evidence exists to show our elections aren't secure, in the interference sense of changing actually cast votes. However, since this is an issue that foreign governments would obviously like to control, and it is so vitally important, I think it makes sense to be proactive in developing security measures, not reactive.

Why not?  Of course we can have a meaningful discussion about Democrat motives in resisting all efforts at election integrity.  We’ve learned in the last week that the problem runs deep into our agencies whose mission is to deal with the issue.  Chinese hacking into and stealing voter data in 2018-2020 is established.  Yet the MSM deny this or obfuscate and cover it up.  Democrat office holders and deep staters do likewise, either in concert or independently.  That trickles down to people here while they scream Trump ruined election integrity.  When Trump pointed this out, his haters laughed at him and Uncle “serious discussion “ Mark posted Trump was already stealing the next election.

As you note, foreign influence in our politics has been around forever.  When Trump actually mentioned the Chinese buying anti-Trump journalists we get crickets from the MSM who otherwise had their  anti-Trump messaging about interference written before Trump even spoke. They want the bribes that comes with interference.

Given our  free speech traditions, I don’t think we can limit the incoming.  But we can harden the targets.  Repeal the 17 th Amendment.  Replace candidate primaries with conventions.  Make voting more difficult, not easier.  The system we have now is producing too many candidates who have no business serving as elected officials.  After seeing how the Democrats manipulated the primary system to give us Biden Harris, foreign influence might not be so bad anyway. Smile

@co-hoosier it’s how they operate. Hickory does nothing but insult in this board. Calling people names. Yet somehow I constantly see awaiting moderation under mine.  The left wants to silence us.  From the NYT to cbs to the Hoosier huddle house

I'm sorry, is this some kind of bizarro world? We've got posters here attacking Democrats for not taking it seriously when Trump rightfully pointed out that foreign governments want to interfere with our elections? Is this supposed to be some kind of performance art?

Chinese hacking into and stealing voter data in 2018-2020 is established.

Nonsense.  There's no evidence that China hacked into any system for that information, nor would they need to.  It's readily available to the public, in some cases for a small fee.

Trump claimed China collected 220 million U.S. voter registration files. But that data is easy to obtain in most states. - CBS News

Mark posted Trump was already stealing the next election.

And Trump has no history in this regard?  LMAO.

You also have to increase the odds of the Chinese purposely releasing Covid into the equation as well.

I've made those arguments about Democrats resisting the voter ID movement. I still strongly believe we should have voter ID requirements in every state and we're winning that argument. Last I looked 37 states require it, and I'd be happy if it was a national law mandating it in every state. That's not all that's in the SAVE Act which is why it's not going to be passed. If it was just voter ID, it would pass overwhelmingly. Despite that, our elections are very secure. Voter fraud exists, but not nearly at the level that will change the results of a national election. Only time that has been a possibility in the last 100 years is probably 1960.

Deep State doesn't exist. I don't know why a man of your intelligence continues to insist on that ridiculous notion. Who's coordinating this stupid Deep State? No one, because there isn't one.

Trump did ruin election integrity. Yeah, Al Gore contributed in 2000 with his fight in Florida and RFKjr and his fellow radical Democrats contributed in 2004 with their sorry insistence that there was voter fraud in Ohio that reelected GWB, but Trump is all that on steroids. He lost by a huge margin nationwide. The polls predicted he would lose by almost the exact margin he lost by. I never thought that election was in doubt, unlike other elections, like 1992 and 2000. Trump's baseless and relentless assertions that the 2020 election was stolen is doing lasting harm to the United States by casting doubt on our election integrity that is absolutely unwarranted. Since he's been doing that since before the 2020 election, why is it unreasonable to you that it's what Trump is doing before the 2026 elections. It's 100 percent reasonable to see that Trump is attempting to cast doubt on the results of the 2026 elections which probably aren't going to be to his liking.

Your stuff about anti-Trump journalists is nonsense. How do you not see that it would be deriliction of duty not to report the many negative actions and statements of Trump. Why do you Trump devotees not mention the proven efforts by Russia to elect Trump in 2016.

I agree with much of your last paragraph. I do think we'd be better off getting rid of the primaries and returning to the days of selecting candidates in national conventions. I don't agree with how the Democrats selected Harris, honestly mostly because I thought she was a bad choice, but there wasn't anything contrary to our laws about it. Yes, she was basically anointed by Biden, and he gave her all his campaign resources, but the DNC could have nominated someone else. It's understandable why they didn't. Our choices since 2016 have been dog shit. I don't think they would have been if we didn't have primaries. I don't agree about making voting more difficult. Just how would you want to do that, go back to white male landowners only voting? We made voting easier during the Civil War when we made absentee voting possible so the union troops could vote. That's the right way to go. It is a very fraud free way of voting in nearly every state that allows it and I say that as someone that has voted by mail every national election except two since 1980.

All you need is to study the history and effect of the EPA endangerment finding to understand the power of the deep state.

I don’t see any of this.  It’s a talking point without substance. Integrity questions are increasing, but that has to do with “reforms” being implemented in places like California.  That has nothing to do with Trump.

This is genuinely stupid comment. All we need to do is go back to in person voting and for mail ballots count only those in the hands of the various entities by the close of business on Election Day.

Your stuff about anti-Trump journalists is nonsense.

The bribes are documented, and they were hidden.

I honestly do not understand you any longer. You’ve become willfully blind to reality and are either ignorant or pretend to be ignorant of actual facts. This all makes me sad.
