@boogie hard to win when you’re under investigation by the AG for stealing tornado relief money from your constituents

the winner is a loony progressive too.  He just doesn’t hate jews

Scandals aren't a disqualifying factor anymore, silly goose.

@big-ryan the article is wrong re Missouri. A progressive won. A hardcore progressive won.  Just not cori bush.  The race was between two progressives. The difference is one hates Jews and stole from the tornado relief fund she created

It seems to me that the Democratic establishment does not want democratic socialists to win primaries, fearing backlash in the general election. But we are at the point where the qualifications bar is so low for candidates, really that you actually not be a lying criminal woman-beating weasel, that a democratic socialist with no criminal past who puts forth arguments of how to actually help constituents will rake in the votes in many cities and some suburbs. It may come at a cost come November. Some may choose even a lying criminal election-denying woman-beating weasel over an alternative who is branded a communist.

@socks-shorts-1-2-3-swish the dem party has moved so far left that now we are having races where the only choices are a progressive vs a socialist/communist.  the radical woke progressive is more palatable.  no idea what happened to the dem party

Looks like El-Sayed will win the Dem primary in Michigan. Barely. As a reminder, Slotkin beat Rogers in 2024 by .3%

Gonna be tough for the Dems to hold this seat though Republicans haven't won a MI Senate race since '94.

@larsiu For what it's worth, the prediction markets have El-Sayed winning in November.

With Trump on the ticket and Republicans extremely motivated. Rogers will lose handily.

I'm surprised the Stevens/El-Sayed race in Michigan is so tight.  El-Sayed was leading in every poll I saw, by double digits in some.

You mean people don't like communist terrorists?

Were there any DSA people running, though? Is Virginia generally more moderate than Mass, Michigan, etc.?
