I've seen that poll and I've heard that there are reasons to have doubts about it. Supposedly it was commissioned by someone/a group who are decidedly anti-Haitian. I do think there is a fair amount of people who don't want them to leave. And people who have skin in the game, ie businesses and local leaders, really don't want them to leave. For decades the population was shrinking and so was the tax revenue.
Some people who want them gone are upset with the growing pains that came from such fast growth. And for what it's worth, you don't have to dig too deep in talking with people who want them gone to see their stance is based in at least latent xenophobia and racism. Or at least a sense of being uncomfortable with the unfamiliarity the Haitian community brings.
I do think there was some sentiment of 'why did they come here?' or "who let this happen?' I do think those questions can be fair, but also are short-sighted. Springfield needed population growth. They got it. They may find out what happens what's on the other side of that growth being drastically and quickly reversed soon.
@goat as a rule, I think people should quote the post they're DIRECTLY replying to. Sometimes it's difficult to know who's being responded to or what the context is. I agree that people shouldn't quote pages and pages of posts and replies. It's annoying - especially when you're on your phone.

I honestly don’t care what you doubt. People who see the forest for the trees and want the city to continue to grow don’t want 15-20% of the current population to vanish over the next several months.

A growing population doesn't always equate to an increase in living standards. Canada has had more immigration than the U.S. and GDP per capita has been flat for a decade. Low skilled labor is a net negative for the economy in developed nations that spend a lot on social services.

Brad said 64% of the people voted for Trump in 24 and the poll says 66% of them are against the Haitian invasion. It's pretty much spot on.

I don't know if your comparison works or scales. Springfield is a relatively small town. Even with any extra spending required with a higher population, I think the tax revenues of add 25% to your population is going to be a net positive. If it wasn't I doubt city, county and state leaders would be outspoken in opposing ending TPS.
