Looks like the Trump administration's solution to the Legacy Media "problem" is State TV.

What's going to happen when Trump tells him to revoke CNN's or CBS's licenses?

Trump will start marketing Bill of Rights toilet paper.

I doubt he understands that CNN and CBS aren't licensed by the FCC. Carr knows, but isn't letting that little detail dissuade him from playing up to Dear Leader.

Actually, CBS is. They directly own and operate 15 of the most important affiliate stations. The threat to pull the license from, say, WCBS in New York, would be no small thing.

I know that, but still it's not CBS per se that is licensed, it's the local broadcast stations that they happen to own. In this case, my pedantry trumps your pedantry. Neener neener.

If Trump uses it, then just think how much his followers would pay for it

He's just happy his shoes fit.

I'm not sure I actually agree, but I'm willing to grant the point simply in recognition of such excellent pedantry.

You're wrong about the singular "they", too.

I think the Dems are going to win big in November, too, but they'd need veto-proof numbers. Most likely, Trump's decimation of public broadcasting gets reversed when the next guy is in the Oval, which is what was going to happen, anyway.

If the funding to CPB is restored, the money should make it to the stations and other parties as intended. It's not like they do much at the Federal level besides disbursing money. BICBW.
