"I believe the tariffs, paid for by foreign countries, will, like in the past, substantially replace the modern-day system of income tax, taking a great financial burden off the people that I love."
It would take a special kind of moron to believe this one.

In fairness to Trump, from his personal experience, he's an everyday guy and he barely pays any taxes off of his bazillion dollar fortune, so the average American making 60k a year must only be paying, what? $1.69? The tariff money could cover that.

You don't have to look far (the post above yours) to find the morons that believe everything Trump says.

True but he can't explain away the lie that foreign countries are paying the tariffs. About as honest as claiming Mexico would pay for the wall.
...he asked those willing to put US citizens above illegal aliens & the Democrats stayed sitting.
Similar to when Biden, in one of his SOTU addresses, asked people to stand if they thought that billionaires should pay more in income taxes than school teachers do. The MAGA nuts stayed sitting.

LOL!! NOBODY gets it wrong more than Shooter.
Huuuuuge difference between differing opinions on tax rates & whether or not citizens of this country should take priority before nons.
I’ll start. All Americans should pay the same amount of taxes since we all enjoy the same benefits. We drive on the same roads, enjoy the same military protection, etc. Those who consume more, etc. will pay more in sales tax. There are certainly reasonable arguments for & against this, & much more detail & nuance, but you get the picture.
Now, you do the same for Dems demonstrating they do not agree with the needs of US citizens taking priority over nons.

We have one of the most progressive income tax structures in the world. What was Biden even talking about there? Taxing unrealized asset gains?
I’d have stayed seated too. Fucking stupid thing to say.
it was about CEOs regularly getting multimillion dollar "performance bonuses" for downsizing/ laying off people, and paying no or almost no income tax on those bonuses due to loopholes. What was Biden even talking about there?

@shooter that’s not true. Give me an example. Leftists love to crow about all these “loopholes” but have very little understanding of what they’re talking about and come up short when asked to cite a real world instance.
Performance bonuses are taxed.
We have the entire range of MAGAs here. They all share rule number one of MAGA which is to be loyal to Donald Trump no matter what he says or does, but they differ in how they obey rule number one. On the one end we have posters like dbm who is so slavishly devoted (and actually dumb) that he actually believes whatever Trump says without question. On the other end we have posters smart enough to know the President is lying (though not always) but will defend or explain away the lie in order to demonstrate their own level of devotion and loyalty to Donald Trump. The mental gymnastics necessary to defend or explain these lies so often has entirely warped their sense of honesty. It's practically not a personal principle for them any longer. It's just one of the side effects of their own cases of Trump Devotion Syndrome (TDS).They're all around you on this forum. Here's a good one:

In my opinion Reagan was the best President in my lifetime. The first of many Republicans I've voted for over the past few decades. I really liked him, but I wasn't devoted to him like MAGAs are to Trump. Their devotion, worship of him in many cases, is just off the chain weird and unnatural. They fly Trump flags even on their pickup trucks! I've never even seen a Reagan flag. Imagine that.

CEOs can receive massive bonuses while paying little to no income tax due to legal tax strategies, such as the "CEO Bonus Loophole," allows corporations to deduct unlimited "performance-based" compensation from taxes.
THAT IS A CORPORATE TAX DEDUCTION NOT PERSONAL INCOME TAX YOU NINCOMPOOP. THE BONUSES REGARDLESS OF FORM ARE STILL TAXED.
You confirm my suspicion that the average leftist looking at a balance sheet might as well be trying to read Mandarin.
Somebody slept through the news about the several years Trump had millions in income and paid zero taxes due to LEGAL writeoffs and loopholes. Indeed, good for him for finding a way. But it shouldn't happen.
