I did not watch it either, but judging from all the articles on foxnews featuring transparent over the top ass kissing praise, I can only assume it was the typical Trump clown show.
Wow, I didn't take you as an avid consumer of Faux News kind of feller...I reckoned you were more of a Maddow media masticator in the same vein as UncleMark. Learn somethin' new every day I 'spose. Buddy of mine watched and sent me this today. Apparently Trump made mention of the fraud in Minnesota and used the term "Somali pirates who ransacked Minnesota" and the camera panned to Omar which was interesting.

I think I listened to about 5 minutes of it live because I had other things to do, plus he's a horrible speaker, but here's the transcript and video for those that want to read it, and/or watch it yourself.
It's a MAGA trait, one of many negative traits, to deny the President's unprecedented dishonesty. His deep dishonesty is not normal, even for a politician (something else MAGA likes to claim - falsely). I've not figured out whether MAGAs knowingly deny when the President lies, or the majority is just that gullible and believe the lies (like dbm certainly is).
Early fact checks:
Fact checking Trump's 2026 State of the Union address and Spanberger's response
I would hardly say skimming the headlines on the foxnews.com site rises to the level of "consuming", but you do you.I did not watch it either, but judging from all the articles on foxnews featuring transparent over the top ass kissing praise, I can only assume it was the typical Trump clown show.

On a more serious note, for some reason, your quote/reply to my post did not trigger the little number indicator up by the notification icon in the upper right hand corner of my page. I guess your attempt at humor, using folksy syntax, was a little too light weight to even garner a blip on the radar.

I reckon I use terms like reckon and feller and 'spose in meat space (thanks again Hooky) more than I do cyber space. And the lack of reply notifications could be because I trim posts I am quoting by highlighting the text and clicking the red quote box rather than using the traditional quote button (it tends to be cleaner and results in less quote of a quote of a quote of a quote GWOT). Maybe that's why, but hell I dunno.
Either way, keep on keepin' on.

That's an interesting theory. (Still no indication that you replied to me, btw, so you may be on to something.)On a more serious note, for some reason, your quote/reply to my post did not trigger the little number indicator up by the notification icon in the upper right hand corner of my page. I 'spose a feller could test it out, ya reckon? I used the traditional quote button feature and folksy syntax. Did you get a notification this time?

In thinking about the SOU spectacle last night, wondered how our Founders would react upon seeing today's political leadership.
Cannot help but believe the Founders would have serious doubts about these representatives of our citizens actually being able to govern.
Then after listening to the caller's reactions to the SOU on C Span this morning, I began to wonder if We the People aren't the problem.
Oh well, maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

Seriously, thanks. That was annoying me.

I'm afraid We the People have long since abdicated our duty, morals and common sense in favor of political expediency and as such have the representative government we deserve.

He says this about gas and every time it looks like an outrageous lie:
"Gasoline, which reached a peak of over $6 a gallon in some states under my predecessor and was, quite honestly, a disaster, is now below $2.30 a gallon in most states, and in some places $1.99 a gallon. And when I visited the great state of Iowa just a few weeks ago, I even saw $1.85 a gallon for gasoline, the lowest in four years, and falling fast."
Based on actual data on average prices of gas most Americans use per state, it's an outrageous lie:
However, is he talking about E85? I don't know anyone that uses E85, I certainly don't, but based on these two his apparent outrageous lie because plausible, outrageous information:
What's the average gas price in Iowa? Not $1.85 as Donald Trump said.
Does anyone listening to him talk about gas prices over and over think he's talking about E85? How many use it? Any of you use it? Of course, people think he's talking about the gas we all use, which is E10. How does repeating this information about gas prices help him politically when we all know what we're paying for gas? It's high in AZ and I'm due for a fill up. It's nearly 4 bucks a gallon here in town but I'll get it a little less at Sam's - still well over 3 bucks.

The founders wouldn't be happy. We're a backsliding democracy; a decided shift toward authoritarianism is underway. A significant percentage of Americans are fine with that, a large chunk is vehemently opposed, and perhaps the largest percentage is too ignorant/uninformed to realize it's happening.
I was pleased to see that the Dems were finally willing to be honest when he asked those willing to put US citizens above illegal aliens & the Democrats stayed sitting. At least they’re willing to admit it, probably because they know it won’t cost them any votes…
Here's a good one:
"I believe the tariffs, paid for by foreign countries, will, like in the past, substantially replace the modern-day system of income tax, taking a great financial burden off the people that I love."
It would take a special kind of moron to believe this one.
Nearly two hours of pure comedic gold. 10/10
