Just an FYI.  Her first name is Norah.   I watched the interview.

Yeah, I know. My dementia was acting up last night.

But other than the spat with Nora, I thought he comported himself well. Wasn't biting on the "security failure" narrative.

Did you see the segment with Ben Sasse that followed the Trump interview?  I'm not sure what happened at UF, but that guy is brilliant - - and courageous.

@iucrazy2 Yes he should have said FU and walked off but he should have never put himself in that position. 60 Minutes is legacy left wing garbage.  Just decline the invitation.  The 80 year old lunatics marching at No Kings protests after hitting Bread Co crowd.

I thought he did well too except that part. It's not odd to ask about the guys motives and quote his manifesto. Not sure why every maga douche has to always play white knight and come to Trump's defense about everything. Except for that tantrum he did fine.

Still it's weird that he was on 60 Minutes less than 24 hours later. The whole thing is weird.

@mrhighlife It's deranged and it's despicable.  Let's give the voice that this deranged killer didn't get and broadcast his message on a major network for all to here.  60 minutes has been trash for a very long time so nothing is surprising.  It's CBSCNN.  Trump should starve them of oxygen.  Decline every invitation.

Trumps 60 Minutes interview with Laura O'Donnell was... shall we say interesting in spots?

Worthwhile watch.

Just an FYI.  Her first name is Norah.   I watched the interview.  Trump went nuclear on her when she referenced the portion of the shooter's manifesto that he (the shooter) was "no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes."

Trump's reaction: "I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would, because you’re horrible people. Horrible people. Yeah, he did write that. I’m not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody.

“Oh, do you think he was referring to you?” O’Donnell asked, before Trump interrupted.

“I’m not a pedophile. Excuse me. Excuse me. I’m not a pedophile. You read that c--- from some sick person? I got associated with stuff that has nothing to do with me. I was totally exonerated. Your friends on the other side of the plate [WTF?] are the ones that were involved with, let’s say, Epstein or other things. But I said to myself, ‘You know, I’ll do this interview and they’ll probably’— I read the manifesto. You know, he’s a sick person. But you should be ashamed of yourself reading that because I’m not any of those things.”

"You shouldn’t be reading that on 60 Minutes. You’re a disgrace. But go ahead. Let’s finish the interview,” he continued, adding, “You’re disgraceful.”

She didn't seem particularly fazed by the attack.  I guess his interviewers fully understand that the meltdowns go with the territory.

Can you remember any other time where a journalist quoted from a would be assassin's manifesto and then asked the intended target whether they had a response to that?

I can't.

He should have just said, "F--- you Norah" and walked off.

Agreed.  But Trump likes to stick it to reporters, particularly female reporters, when they ask him questions he doesn't like.  Last November, when he was being questioned on Air Force One about the release of the Epstein files, he instructed a female reporter: "quiet, piggy." Last month, also on Air Force One, he called an ABC News reporter "very obnoxious" after she asked a question about the deployment of Marines to the Middle East. He also recently told the president of the WHCA that she would be "incapable" of passing a cognitive test (a screening tool for dementia) he had taken.

But back to the Norah O'Donnell interview.  Trump's problem (one of many) is that his close friend of ten years was the world's most infamous sex trafficker and pedophile. He'll never be able to shake that.

The lax security narrative is a bit overblown. The guy was one whole floor, 3 flights of stairs, and several layers of security from where he wanted to go. He didn't have much of a plan. I guess he did manage to find the right building, but thinking he would just push his way past the magnetometers and get very far is dumb.

Make an example of this guy though. Political violence from all sides has no place in our society.

@gros-louis This guy was a left wing lunatic beta academic.  Bleating pedophile (doesn't know the meaning of the word), rape (no rape civil), and as inept as one would think in light of his background.  So what does the left wing rag 60 minutes do?  Give him the attention he so richly doesn't deserve by reading his garbage.

No nurse needed.  Already been to the gym.  225 8 times.  You?

I was at a work event all weekend and saw the news, but didn't get the details of this. And before I comment further, I should say I agree with your last sentence 100%. They need to throw the book at this guy hard.

That said, who or what did he shoot at? I was under the impression that he was actually in the ballroom but was quickly apprehended after getting a few shots off. He must've been close enough for people inside the ballroom to hear the shots, but am I wrong in assuming that in hindsight no one in the ballroom was in any immediate danger?

@larsiu I'm begging you not to do that.  I refrained from Man U and went with United out of respect for you and the Asian guy who used to post on peegs and berated me over it.

Trump was there to talk about the incident.

@mrhighlife Is the incident reading the Manifesto bits?  That's irresponsible gotcha or attempted gotcha.

He shot a secret service agent who was protected by a vest.

The shooter was never in the ballroom and no one in the ballroom was ever in any danger, but the occupants who heard the shots didn't know that and had every reason to be scared shitless.
