I doubt we agree on much. Revelations, for example, was written about Christians struggling inside the Roman Empire, and Nero was the antichrist. So those events were allegory and not awaiting us in the future.

On that we agree.

Let me ask you another question. Do you agree with the Catholic Church's teaching that the only path to our Heavenly Father's Kingdom is through the Catholic Church?

Certainly not. I think there is no one true religion.

Here is one, is The Bible infallible? Given it was cobbled together from copies of copies, some edited, I don't know how it could be. So for me God is far more forgiving. Does one really want to live life correctly even if the flesh is weak. Even if they misunderstood/misinterpreted.

I think I'm with you on this one. And Kurt Vonnegut. Too many people take random passages in the Bible out of context to justify pretty bad stuff. A lot of people tend to miss the overall crux of the Bible - or Christianity - which is the Beatitudes. It seems fewer and fewer people want to actually base their Christian beliefs on the teachings of Christ though.

I've shared this quote from Kurt Vonnegut probably at least 20 times here, but it rang true for me when I first read it and whenever I see people pushing a perverted or warped version of Christianity to justify war, discrimination, etc:

“For some reason, the most vocal Christians among us never mention the Beatitudes (Matthew 5). But, often with tears in their eyes, they demand that the Ten Commandments be posted in public buildings. And of course, that's Moses, not Jesus. I haven't heard one of them demand that the Sermon on the Mount, the Beatitudes, be posted anywhere. 'Blessed are the merciful' in a courtroom? 'Blessed are the peacemakers' in the Pentagon? Give me a break!”

I found many reasons to leave but ultimately I left because I realized that Catholicism was chock full of unbiblical doctrines. Francis' numerous forays into world politics were what initially compelled me to take a hard look at the worldly Catholic system.

With that said there are many Godly people in the Catholic Church and I certainly anticipate that they'll go straight to Heaven. However, I am 100% convinced that Catholicism is wrong about many doctrines, starting with their various Popes wanting to be worldly political leaders.

Congratulations. You’ve turned away from the one true church and are unrepentant.

That is a mortal sin. You no longer know God’s grace.

You've managed to unite atheists, agnostics and Christians in a chorus of "You're full of shit."  Well done!

I don't believe any faithful follower of Christ would respond in the manner that I've seen here. I can share compelling evidence that Catholicism is NOT Jesus's church here on Earth. As for you, your hatred of me stems from the fact that you are of this world and are opposed to truth, especially the truth of God. You should change before you stand in judgment before Christ.

You can share evidence that's compelling to YOU.  I imagine it wouldn't be compelling to Catholics.  Catholics would be able to share evidence compelling to THEM that you're wrong but you wouldn't accept it.

Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Adventists, Pentecostals, Methodists, Anglicans, Presbyterians, or Episcopalians could share evidence, compelling to them, that you're of the wrong flavor of Christianity.  Some of them might even say it's not an insignificant difference and your immortal soul is at risk by believing in your heresies.

Personally, I think you're all just arguing about whose brand of magic is better than someone else's.  But if we're just operating under the premise of Jesus's reported words as the guide instead of Paul's, you really need to brush up on your Mosaic law until heaven & earth pass away.

Catholic convert JD Vance passed another loyalty test yesterday.  He defended the president over the pope. In essence, he stated that he doesn't like the pope talking about the war and that he should stay in his lane when making public statements.  Specifically, Vance said the pope should "stick to matters of morality."

Hey Vance.  You can't be that stupid.

On the whole, I agree with you. But I think not quite everything is equal once you make the assumption that there must be a true church. Once you accept that leap, the use of simple objective logic shows protestantism writ whole to be fatally flawed. The true church (if there were one) would be Catholic, Orthodox, Oriental, or Nestorian. Or perhaps all of them collectively.

I think the modern day Evangelical Christian who only seem to get invited to the White House to touch Trump probably don't have a claim to anything resembling the 'true' church. I'll die on that hill.

I'm guessing the Pope saying something against your one true lord and savior Donald Trump is the reason you're not a Catholic 😉

I don't think the sofa king wants the pope to discuss matters of morality. That would also be against Trump.

I recall that a former member of Trump's first administration spilled the beans about Trump's reaction after meeting Evangelical Christian ministers that he had invited to the White House for a "laying of hands".  These ministers went on and on about how Trump was doing God's work and must be touched by the guiding hand of Jesus.  After they left the room, Trump's sheepish reaction was "Do you really think that they actually believe all of that bullshit?"

It's wild that this administration thinks they can tell the Pope what to do and what he should focus on. What's worse is the everyday people who carry their water. When people are getting angry over the Pope saying 'blessed are the peacemakers' and generally speaking out against a war there is something fundamentally wrong with them.

Every US President and their administrations since I've been alive have been at odds with a Pope at one point or another. The only difference is none of them before Trump whined like little bitches.

I remember seeing something like that too. And I don't doubt it for a second. I know he's a germaphobe - I bet those praying sessions where they all touch him drive him bonkers.

The Pope doesn't support snake handling and that's probably a problem for the little bitch.

It was his "fixer," Michael Cohen.

Trump has all these people hoodwinked.  I'm convinced he doesn't believe in God. How could someone or something be greater than himself?
