let's punish the criminals with much more severe penalties and sentences that deny parole, early reinstatement back into society.

1.  reparations.  means tested.  give the worst in the hood a boost and see if it deters the drug trade and petty criminal shit

I think I'm finally seeing the light on this. We're a pay-to-play society.  The American Dream is intact but it's sure gonna cost you these days.  Let's skip the middle men for awhile and see if it works.  Nothing to lose.

@el-zee you put it better than I did.  Let’s skip the middle man.

this will really piss people off but we already pay reparations for all kinds of wrongs.  People who have had a reaction to vaccines.  Farmers.  Disaster relief.  Vets exposed to shit.  Indians.  This was something done to blacks.  A harm visited upon them.

now I mostly just want to get rid of the middle man of gov and I’m not saying I agree with the above but an argument can be made.

@jdb it might be. But we don’t know. It might cost less and yield better results

I'm with JDB it's dumb.  People need to quit catering and designing public policy for the bottom 10% of society.  It doesn't solve the problem and only ends up impoverishing the country.

Next you are going to tell me that Pakistan is a better ally than India.

I’ll agree to it if we can execute all violent offenders.

I would start with letting Missouri pay for Missouri. Same with other states. The further we remove the “solution” from the problem the more waste occurs.

I understand it’s a simplistic thought process but it puts more responsibility on those most likely to be affected on both sides

this is even worse than that. One group is favored because they have been deemed to have been more significantly restrained from socioeconomic progress than other groups of people with similar means.

@snarlcakes the problem is that ten percent has a material impact on all of us.  We can’t even take the train here.  Businesses don’t want to come here.  On and on.

@jdb oh yeah.  There’s no bail projects.  No second chances.  Gun charge throw away the key

@jdb no.  They weren’t denied a seat at the economic table for centuries as a result of our own gov.

blacks are the biggest problem generally.  if we wanted to we could fix crime.

1.  reparations.  means tested.  give the worst in the hood a boost and see if it deters the drug trade and petty criminal shit

2.  more cops.  budget for it.

3.  strict bail schedule based on charges thereby eliminating woke judges and restrictions on bail projects/surety/bondsman etc

4.  mandatory sentencing for certain violent crimes.  guns etc.

5.  buybacks semi annually.

6.  raze vacant properties that arent' salvageable

we choose to live with crime and we elect politicians who don't even want to acknowledge crime much less fix it

There's another big reason for all the inner city crime...

@jdb you're already funding it.  to the tune of a trillion a year.

Not by my choice. Swapping one welfare policy for another is stupid.

Throwing cash at someone before they turn into a zombie of the system at least gives you a chance at a good outcome.  A few good outcomes beget a few more good outcomes via kids, relatives, friends, etc.  I guess I'm in the tough on crime crowd but also don't think some of our shitty schools, police departments, prisons, halfway houses, social programs are setting anyone up for success.

I'm old enough to remember when we toughened up to fight crack in inner cities with mandatory sentences and third strike laws.  Gay people have probably done more to save inner cities than those laws did.

Now we're finally done with the defund police, no bail, social-worker-as-cop nonsense.  Total disaster.

Got to be a better way.
