I think Rubio is incredibly competent and probably isn't a complete asshole. Vance - too much sycophancy for me to take him seriously. I have a bad feeling the Dems are going to lock into Newsom early. I'd much rather see Beshear/Shapiro or other decent Dem governor.

@iunorth gop will get curb stomped at the midterms. vance/rubio can begin their tour of distancing themselves from trump without fear of consequence. both are smart guys. unlike harris/aoc. it will be interesting to hear what THEY believe and how they begin to get that messaging out.

I have to think that's trending towards something that is established fact, over just a popular opinion. Every day we get closer to it being undeniable.

That sounds like absolute hell.
Those people have no principles. Dandy boy Beshear sits around and antagonizes JD Vance all day while getting overridden by his legislature on important issues. He’s a clown in a bow tie.
@bar-down rubio seems to be a really good administrator/executive. you don't hear of much if any nonsense out of the state dept. more of that please. would likely hire really competent experts as department heads as well.

@bar-down That would/will be interesting to see play out. I can't fathom any world where Trump allows them to overtly distance themselves from him. And even as a lame duck, depending on how far they'd go towards that, he/Maga will try very hard to cancel them.
The general... I think those two would struggle to wash the Trump stink off enough to where it likely won't hurt their chances greatly. But the "good" thing for them, is the DNC has shown themselves to be stupid enough to prop up candidates fully capable of giving right back any of those advantages with their own issues.

I think with gas prices soaring, Tariff garbage, wars, costs continuing to rise as opposed to come down MAGA voters will turn. i think it'd be pretty easy to distance themselves from trump. the harder trick is to disavow those policies. biden was the worst president in my lifetime. harris had zero success pretending those issues weren't hers. jd would have to do the same. as a counter argument
that said i don't think maga wants to go back to old school gop. that ship has sailed. it'd have to be rubio saying he was just focused on state blah blah blah

@carramrod That's fair. There are more than a small portion of the population that have Obama not going far enough with race related issues, as a chief concern for his presidency. So while I do think he incited some racial issues, and fired up quite a lot of people... I also am pragmatic enough to know a mere picture of him, and his name, had more than a small portion of the population "pre baited". Long winded way of saying, I don't think his words and actions should have baited nearly as many people as they did. But I also have quite a few concerns with things he did, and also didn't do, as our President. He had the opportunity to be so much more, and so much better...and the talent to do so, in my opinion. He did fairly well, but fell far short of his potential.
@hurryinghoosiers let's see the kentucky derby is changing schedule because of blacktivities. little 500 was a mess from blacktivities. six flags opening day here closed because of blacks fighting. you could just go around the country and any event blacks show up in numbers it has to be shut down or handled. i'm not sure the race card is going to carry much today. black fatigue is real.
The system is in decline. We've dumbed down the electorate to the point where people just vote to stick it to the other side.
