I would guess that in realistic terms you would probably get maybe a little over 300 miles out of the battery. I certainly hope I'm wrong but from what I've read they never test the batteries in real life conditions.Biggest complaint for these cars is range and charging time. How about a battery that gives the car a 600-mile range and can be charged in 9 minutes? EVs are super-fast off the line and the top end ones have a very fast top speed. I have a sport coupe that guzzles gas but is a blast to drive and has a 180-mph top speed (never know when you'll need that speed!). I'd consider an EV Sport Coupe next if that 600-mil range and charge time becomes reality.

@npt That's about what my wife got out of her Bolt with a current battery. That's not enough for me. However, 600 and a 9-minute charge time would certainly be a game changer.
If you can charge the battery in less than 10 minutes and chargers were plentiful enough that you could easily get to one without going too far out of your way, then range would not be much of an issue at that point. Putting chargers at all or most gas stations would likely be the solution and if you could get 300+ range (like the range of a regular car), range anxiety would be a thing of the past.
I hope it works out but I'm always suspicous of numbers they rhrow out.@npt That's about what my wife got out of her Bolt with a current battery. That's not enough for me. However, 600 and a 9-minute charge time would certainly be a game changer.

It will be true and validated, or it won't be by the people that actually drive the cars. It's like MPG on new cars, a real person doesn't quite experience that, but it's usually kind of close.I hope it works out but I'm always suspicous of numbers they rhrow out.@npt That's about what my wife got out of her Bolt with a current battery. @hurryinghoosiers For at least a second car. I hate having to go to the gas station.
@aloha-hoosier kinda close huh? Like within 5% of the official gov’t calculated values? Huh. The worst kind of stupid.
I just hope it'a close. When they say 600 miles does that mean with the AC or hearter running? I have never figured out exactly what they mean. Like you say, customers will determine what the actual mileage will be.It will be true and validated, or it won't be by the people that actually drive the cars. @oneeyedundertaker You cannot drive from Indy to Pensacola on a tank of gas. Admit it and STFU.

I would be willing to bet they aren't running ac/heater or anything unnecessary when getting MPG either. Plus I don't generally get the estimated MPG until I have driven the car for a year or so (takes many miles to break it in)...and only if I stay under 60 mph since going faster has a negative effect on gas mileage.

I have math, you have…opinions I guess? Unless you can show your work. For example:
36*22=792. Lucas Oil Stadium to The Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola = 734 miles.
That is Indy to Pensacola, no?
Try it. Based on what people actually get for mileage, you have no chance of making it. Also stay out of the museum.@oneeyedundertaker You cannot drive from Indy to Pensacola on a tank of gas. Admit it and STFU.

What do people actually get for mileage? I’ve been, also watched the Blue Angels practice. I was with my brother in law, a Navy veteran. He even believes in math over storytelling!Try it.
