@co-hoosier it would be better if Congress were involved. Having a moving target at the whim of Trump’s mood makes doing business very difficult. Raising corp taxes to 28 percent would be much easier to budget for than tariffs and the endless hassle surrounding same

I dunno about that. In my little law firm, we had to pay tax on our rainy-day fund that was carried from one year to the next because it represented income. Tariffs are a tax on spending, that problem would not exist.
@co-hoosier imagine that tax issue every single day. My company will do over 250 separate independent transactions this year. Business to business. Each with a unique amount to deal with etc.
Are you thinking of tax credits if a business hires so many addicts off the street? Might as well just give the business a check instead of saying some people get a credit on widgets and others don’t.

The GOP is traditionally the party of Law and order. Order meaning following the rules. In the US who has traditionally made the rules? White males. Women and minorities often feel disenfranchised by those white male rules. That’s a problem in civil society because if you don’t have buy-in from a certain segment of society then to that degree, you have a breakdown of order.
Along comes white male Donald Trump openly mocking the rules, breaking the rules, getting away with breaking the rules (“I do it because I’m smart”) and he’s setting an example for white males to proudly mock and break or otherwise not follow the rules of (white male) civil society. if some large segment of white males don’t buy in to the given order, then you’ve got a serious problem. We’re not even talking about criminals who clearly don’t buy in.
And then you have paranoid posters blaming it all on the Democrats. Surprise surprise! The Dems stopped following the rules. Who’dathunkit?
