Earlier this year, Canadian PM created a new position in his upper management team of COO, Chief Operations Officer.  The holder of this position will oversee the day-to-day PM operations and will be in daily contact with the PM.

To fill this position, Carney by-passed millions of Canadians and chose an American.  But not just any American. The person hired is a well-established operative of the Democratic Party, has a well- documented history of highly partisan anti-Trump activity, and was a close adviser to many top level Democrats and worked on many pet-Democrat issues and positions.

She was hired In July.  A few weeks later, on August 21, trade negotiations between the USA and Canada blew up and Carney said Canada was at war with the U.S.  Canada claims lThe U.S. introduced  “last minute” terms.  The U.S. negotiators say Canada rejected a very good deal.

It doesn’t take much effort to connect these dots.  U.S./ Canada relations, as of August 21 are in the shitter, and with a never-Trump American in the inner-circle of the PM’s office, and in constant contact with the PM, it doesn’t take a genius to know the bad blood will last through the midterms.

Give me a break.  Trump started antagonizing and ridiculing Canada during his first term when Trudeau was the PM. He's ramped it up in his current term, with "51st state" and "Lake America" taunts.

Responsibility for the deteriorating relationship between the US and Canada, which until 10 years ago had been our closest friend and ally, rests squarely with Trump.

Hogwash.  The USMCA was during Trumps first term.  US and Canada were on the cusp of a better deal in August, it went south on a dime.  Ya can’t have Trump entering the midterms with an accomplishment these day—no matter the cost.

Kind of like Congress can't pass a bipartisan immigration bill right before an election?

@big-ryan is right. You are making yourself look like a fool by starting this thread and denying the cause of us-Canada friction is what we all know it is.

There's only one dot. Our irrational, erratic President without a lick of international economic sense in his head. We had a renegotiated good deal with Mexico and Canada in Trump's first term, USMCA, and our President blew it up for reasons that only exist in his head.

Not buying it.  Trump has been Trump forever.  Yet we still had the USMCA, peaceful US/Canadian relations, and we were on the verge of a better economic deal. Then the whole thing goes in the dumpster weeks after a highly partisan Democrat never  Trumper operative joins the PM’s personal staff.  Not a coincidence.

Butch is 100 percent right on this one. This economic conflict is absolutely unnecessary and it's only happening because of Trump. Period.

USMCA was a good deal and we shouldn't be spending a minute on any of this now. Why treat our allies like enemies? It makes no sense at all.

@co-hoosier she's been on his staff for a while. All that happened in July was she got a new title during a reshuffle.

Our irrational, erratic President without a semblance of economic sense in his head.

lol.  Are you talking about the same guy you claimed made billions off of being president?    Sounds like there is a place for you on Carney’s staff.

Yeah, Lutnick pushed some things. This was still a good and salvageable deal.  Negotiations were still ongoing.  Canada’s sudden termination and saying they were at war is straight otta Maia Johnson.  All she needed was a hook to hang her hat on.
