@bradstevens are you in Lincoln park?  Those tiny lots? I’d imagine that requires much more skill and help

@bradstevens wow!!!

It sucks. I swear, I've dumped $100K into this house just taking care of crap I never thought would be an issue:  tree fungus that has killed two giant oak trees, my sewer line collapsed and had to dig up the street and sidewalk on my dime to fix, back yard drainage, etc. etc.

No. River Forest, next to Oak Park.  Lot size is 55 x 150.

@co-hoosier it was actually pretty funny.  when they left and the stumps were left behind they looked absolutely awful.  they were standing up like three feet above the ground lol.  i knew it wouldn't fly but whatever.  and of course it didn't

Define patriotism…

I think you should provide your definition and how assaulting the nation’s Capitol and Capitol Police fits into it.

Of course you won’t answer, but I will, & I’ll use the Merriam Webster definition - love for or devotion to one's country  Are you going to tell me that if you think someone is taking away your democracy you’re not going to act?  It doesn’t matter if you agree with their actions, if they’re doing it because they love their country, it’s an act of patriotism.

So again, what’s your definition?

@arthur-dent bc it’s common sense. Why do we always have to pander to the laziest element. And I’m for more locations. Make it easier to do that

First, I appreciate you want more locations. Not all on your side do. Without that we hit problems.

It can be lazy. Working poor often do not own cars. Bus transportation in many communities sucks. Taking unpaid time off work to vote is a difficult choice. Taking it and depending on public transport? Far more difficult. The lazy people are the idle wealthy. Even lazier of one has a chauffeur.

Time waiting in line shows poorer people aren't the lazy ones:

Good thing Georgia made handing out water to people in line illegal.

Trump also said he wants to eliminate voting machines. I challenge anyone here to sit down with 800 ballots of 15 races, then record themselves counting all the votes. I started working elections in high school and we had paper. "Plane an X to indicate your vote" or some such wording. So what do we do if there is a check mark? An X in one but a / in another. Two Xs but one might be somewhat erased. A crossed out X but the other box filled in. It was a primary in an off-year and didn't go fast. If anyone thinks that will be quick, sit down with a stack of 800 and count.

@arthur-dent yep much the right needs to relent.  make it a 2 or 3 day national holiday.  have everything sorted in advance.  increase voting locations.  make it much easier for the working poor etc to vote.  i'm in.
