If the reporting from Haberman and Swann about the letters and notes she's written to Trump can be believed, the lady has issues. She's estranged from her family; her father committed suicide and she wanted to hide that fact and the family wasn't interested in playing along. Could be Trump is some kind of (grand)father figure. Or maybe she's like Karoline and just likes 'em old.
Regardless, she'll be taken care of until Trump is done with her. Then he'll kick her to the curb like he does everyone else.

I think this is probably pretty accurate. And for what it’s worth, if you remove the context of this being about the president and one of his aides, no one would argue that it sounds like she’s in a cult.
