Moment of silence please. I've seen ZZ 8 times, and this is very, very sad for me.
First time I saw them was at the height of their popularity in Aloha Stadium. Believe it or not, opening band was Run DMC, followed by Stevie Ray Vaughn and then ZZ took the stage. At that time ZZ was the coolest band on stage that I had ever seen.
Second time, still very popular, was at San Jose State University Stadium. Opener was Extreme, second up was Eric Johnson (a guitar God), then Steve Miller Band (awesome set with outstanding sound) and then ZZ Top. ZZ was still very cool in concert, and maybe even put on a better show than in Hawaii.
Saw them six times after. All good, and at smaller venues. Arenas and amphitheaters.

Billy Gibbons is touring now with the guy that replaced Dusty, don't recall his name, and a replacement drummer. I'm guessing he'll continue. The last three times I saw them was in a 6,000-seat amphitheater. Still a good show, but not the same without Dusty, and certainly not the same without Frank as well. Dusty recommended his replacement and I'm not sure about Frank's replacement.
