@snarlcakes I didn't use any ideology at all. I dismissed his thinking because it was based entirely on ideology. If someone likewise ranked only the presidents who pushed leftist ideology highly, and only the presidents who were reactionary/conservative lowly, they would be displaying thinking just as low-level as his.
I gave Lincoln as an example precisely because he's the quintessential president who is great despite the ideological underpinning of what he did. He did things that were arguably unconstitutional. I don't cheer that because I think violating the Constitution is awesome. Instead, I recognize that he met a unique historical challenge by being willing to take the steps necessary to navigate it.
@goat we all have ideologies buddy😉 You're just arguing your ideology of preserving the union was worth Lincoln's unconstitutional acts. I agree with you by the way.
@snarlcakes Preserving the Union is a goal, not an ideology. Are you really this dense, or just being difficult for fun?
It costs a lot of taxpayer money to alleviate problems the President created in hopes of buying some votes.
@squeakyclean If you use reader mode it works. Did for me.
Essentially he’s just promised to spend billions to ease financial pressure of high prices of diesel and fertilizer on farmers and truckers caused by his tariffs and the prolonged war with Iran.
@aloha-hoosier it's not tariffs. It's the prolonged wars in Russia and Iran driving up diesels costs.

@snarlcakes, yes, it isn’t just about tariffs. The Iran war is primary cause of high diesel prices.

Tariffs are a tax. If we cut all tariffs right now there would instantly be more money chasing a limited supply of diesel as some consumers/businesses stop paying the tax and the U.S. government would print more money to cover the larger deficit. What do you think happens to diesel prices? The price goes up, not down as more dollars are chasing the same amount of diesel.
By the way if you think it's not both wars you would have to argue that if the Russian War ended tonight that diesel prices wouldn't drop, which is really really dumb because you would have the same amount of dollars chasing a higher supply of diesel as Russian fuel came back online. Prices would drop quickly and continue as the new supply hit the market.

The govt isn't printing more money to cover a bigger deficit. They borrow more money, which has to come from bond buyers... It's not an increase in money supply. The Fed balance sheet has shrunk by like 25-30% since 2022.
@twenty the FED balance sheet decreased in 2009 as well and eventually made a new high in 2014. Was basically flat to down until Covid and then more than doubled to a new high in 2022. In 10 years the FED balance sheet will be higher the. It is today, book it. Eventually new money is created through the banks/central bank or governments which is inflationary.
