"great" is subjective and relative to the times. So yes IU could be "great" again. Would you say IU football is not great right now?Nice to read about IU landing some big fish in the transfer pool. But I’m not so naive to know these guys aren’t coming for the “ glory of old IU” or to obtain a business degree. IU is outbidding other schools. Does anybody know what IU is paying these guys?
Next year should be fun to watch. But it won’t be like watching IU in the old days where players and coaches had genuine affection for each other and the paycheck wasn’t involved. IU basketball won’t be great again no matter what the record. The rules have changed.
I agree with what your getting at that though. It's the wild wild West, it's not sustainable and it feels so much different then back in the day. I think some common sense transfer rules would be the quickest and easiest way to solve some of the problems. Not all but some.
Crazy to be saying this, but I'm hoping IU football can drag IU basketball into being a regular top-15 team by gravitational pull and some savvy AD moves Prior to the NIL disruption, the SEC was suddenly turning football cash into final four basketball teams with tons of investment. IU needs to make hay before the Cignetti window closes and the rules start favoring football schools again.
It's been fun to watch the portal thread on the hoops forum. Gives me some rays of hope in what has become a mostly apathetic outlook these days.
I will say the handful of miserable baby back bitchers over there make it difficult. They are the epitome of the idiom "You'd complain if you were hanged with a new rope".
You'd find less whining in a daycare.
Trying to scroll thru their constant bitching makes the bball board pretty much unreadable
