Little 5

This happened last year in Ellettsville, tonight on Bloomington's west side. Someone advertises a party, sells admission mostly in Indy, people show up to a public part for this massive party. It is far too large for the park, tonight it was Karst (I tried to go to karst as it has my disc golf course and dog park, I stopped because the roads were pretty much blocked with cars parked). Police eventually moved in, even using a helicopter.

Online people have been blaming IU and students. If it is the same as last year, neither IU nor students were involved. So people suggesting Little 5 be eliminated are overreacting but that isn't unusual.

Sounds like an excellent money maker. Let’s set up a party in Central Park.

It looks like a little after midnight, 5 people were shot on Kirkwood.

It’s called a teen takeover Marv. Too disruptive for your blood?

Try having 1-2 a week for 3/4 of the year and you will understand the natural result of single party Democratic governance.

Don’t be upset, embrace your politics.

They’re just kids. We can’t incarcerate or police our way out of crime. We need more after school programs and to remedy the historic disinvestment in their communities.

Reportedly a chick fight, per WTHI.

@carramrod Absolutely.  These people living in Btown/small town In have no idea about crime and race etc.  Street takeovers, teen takeovers, happen all the time.  It’s unbelievable.

@arthur-dent I played soccer at Karst in leagues all through school. What a wonderful place.

@carramrod And they cry about Trump. Or the know-nothing with the toothless emoji posts same while we’re watching street takeovers a block from the stadium and they don’t understand why some of us have zero interest in voting for a Dem.

So what will be the reasoned excuse?  Kirkwood should be wider?  That big ole girl who smashed in the window was showing bravery?

@bar-down then you would love Karst now, they put in turf fields and lighting.

But admitting to playing that "sport"? Dude, not in polite company. Hushed tones, talk in code, don't ask don't tell.

@arthur-dent 🤣. Wow!!  I haven’t been there in 25 years.  Getting away from campus and playing there a couple nights a week was heaven.  Loved that place.

The husband of one of the professors was culling through school bios for people who played in college and then he’d recruit them for his team 🤣.  League was so organized and perfect fields.  Great memories

@bar-down The county wanted to put those in, but didn't have the land. They had the park resurveyed and discovered the park and fairgrounds had been misconfigured, both were occupying land owned by the other. So they just took that land and built the fields. Really angered the fairgrounds who didn't find it neighborly. But those new fields, put in last fall next to the dog park, look beautiful.

And it lost the old disc golf course to the fairgrounds, which I think was a better than it is now. But it really was small thinking. Westfield showed what big thinking can do.

Plus the county bet heavily on slow pitch softball when they built Twin Lakes. I played in several leagues back then. Turns out it was a dying sport. Not only do they not get all the tournaments they expected, they only have leagues a couple of nights now.

These videos look like South Beach spring break.  Socials calling Kirkwood Kirklanta.  Not a good look for one of college's most famous events/weekends.

In Bton it would be expressed pity followed by hints to refrain from microaggressions and then intense discussion of how make soccer players of all genitalia types and sizes  feel safe and included.

@bar-down Cig had a ton of top flight recruits on campus this weekend.

Unclear if this is off-putting to them or a comforting reminder of their home environments.

@arthur-dent That's a shame to hear about softball.  I always think of that as the ultimate beer drinking sport.  I'll never forget being a kid and my dad worked for Purina. They had a softball team.  The Soyboys.  Anyway my dad became good buddies with a bunch of the guys and they finally talked him into coming out.  My dad was a wrestler.  Built like a tank.  Super confident strong old school dude.  He came home white as a ghost.  He said those guys were so damn good that he was petrified to take the field!  He survived the season but said it was one of the most miserably stressful things ever done.  Those guys back in the 80s took their softball seriously and were legit lol
