Trump appears to be using this litigation to provide a kitty to pay J6’ers who were over- prosecuted.  The judge is yet to rule on that.  If a J6er can manage to get an over prosecution case before the court, compensation might have to come from somewhere anyway. Does this settlement lessen the burden of proof?  IDK and nobody talks about that.

Interesting that I think Obama and Holder contaminated the judicial process on a wider and deeper level in a number of ways. I even posted about “wingman” holder committing prosecutorial misconduct on the old board  that issue went nowhere a and flew by the public like it didn’t exist.

So you see a president who uses his control of the executive branch to pay himself money, and think, yeah but Obama!

I missed the pay himself money part.

Actually my criticism was of holder.  He had ethical rules, Obama didn’t.

Likewise in this case, Trump asked, if there is misconduct, that’s on the lawyers, not Trump.

Incredible. Of the nearly 1300 J6 criminals pardoned by President Trump, 600 hundred of them pled guilty to or were convicted of violent offenses against law enforcement officers. Nearly 200 involved deadly weapons. All were convicted after due process and appropriate trials or judicial proceedings (many pled guilty - because they clearly were, of course). Incidentally, almost 3 dozen of these pardoned criminals have committed crimes since their pardons. That's a pretty high rate of criminal behavior. Far higher than committed by any random 1300 people, even 1300 men, across the country. Your concern is some handful of these criminals who may have been "over-prosecuted," which you provided no link to any plausible over-prosecutions. And you think this handful might deserve $1.7 BILLION in compensation? You must be kidding. This is one of the most corrupt examples of many examples of corruption from this President. He's stealing money from us almost certainly to pay his cronies, and himself, and you're trying to justify it by mentioning some undefined "over-prosecution." Incredible.

The J6-ers were criminals. Those involved in Trump's attempts (which included illegality) are not heroes. Trump-infected Republicans have forever lost the "law and order Republican" label. Forever.

He's not stealing from us. It's not our money.  It's the governments, banks, and FED's money.

We’re living in a post-ethics world in which our most intelligent lawyers have replaced human scruples and life application with the intellectual game of arbitrary interpretations of arbitrary laws upon arbitrary interpretations of arbitrary law upon arbitrary interpretations of arbitrary laws ad absurdum.

I have no clue about what you said.  I see a judiciary buckling under the weight of politicians and the public who want to use the independent judiciary to further policies that should stay in the legislative branch, or policies of retribution and retaliation that should not be part of government at all.  Some judges and other judicial officers  are willing participants in this.

You have given examples of what I said. A simple rational law would address a clear societal problem. A judge can easily render decisions even with nuanced cases.

Legislators then try to solve more specific or limited societal problems with arbitrary laws that aren’t based on reason or science but just their “authoritative” (arbitrary) opinion. This moves that area of jurisprudence further from reason, life, common sense and more toward an arbitrary, authoritarian mishmash such as we now have. A simple example is the definition of male and female. A complex example is the thousands of pages codifying Obamacare.

The basic problem is allowing “Authorities” to decide arbitrarily.

Yet, pretty much all of us still demand dollars and opt into the system.  I definitely think it's immoral and unjust, but we're still the ones choosing to transact in it.

@aloha-hoosier Great post. Yeah, it's bad enough that he pardoned violent offenders (many of whom, as you've noted, are now recidivists) but now he wants to pay them, too.

As I said in another thread, this is another huge "Fuck You" to law enforcement and will further embolden those supporters who are psycho.
