Do you really buy smith’s argument that the reason he didn’t notify the members about his planned seizure was because he thought the members would destroy the records? Records that were not even in their custody? Electronic records that were sent to different servers and couldn’t then be deleted anyway?

Of course not. But classified documents need to be first established. Any president has arguments available that no other official has. It’s not 100% pure hypocrisy to point that out. As usual you overstate everything concerning Trump.

He also had a second level of lying. He said the phone records about to, from, and length of time corroborated his conspiracy theory. Those records do not include content.
The "Dems are controlled by extreme radicals/Commies/anti-capitalist revolutionaries" narrative is clearly not working, but Mike "No Balls" Johnson and his do-nothing-except-prop-Trump-up Congress have nothing else to run on.
To that point, there is an attack ad Jon Husted is running against Sherrod Brown non-stop here in Ohio that features a trans woman saying that after a 20 minute consult when she was an 11 year old boy, it was decided that she would immediately start transitioning. The ad claims Sherrod Brown is for transgender surgeries for kids and said transgender woman says you shouldn't support Brown because of it.
Two problems with that ad. 1) it's already illegal to perform transgender surgeries on minors in Ohio and the transgender woman in the ad is from Texas. On top of all that, Brown isn't running on overturning any state or federal laws on that issue.
It's a scare tactic that obviously must work to some degree, but it's stupid and a diversion from real issues Republicans can't run on.

Maybe their research suggests these BS talking points will help get out the MAGA vote, but they're not going to win over any non-MAGA people with this nonsense. Guys like Tuberville, with the "Fear the Furries!" messaging and, "Watch out, entire men's teams are transitioning so they can compete in women's sports and kick their asses!" are embarrassing themselves and spinning their wheels. It's unpersuasive horseshit. Most people aren't impacted by "furries" or trans people or the other culture war crap. They are impacted, though, by gas prices which they're reminded of every time they drive past a gas station. They're reminded of soaring prices on a whole host of goods when they, for instance, have to choose between buying beef or paying for a prescription that week. Rising prices and stubborn inflation are, to a large extent, the result of Teddy Doze-evelt's war and tariffs.
Independents (like me) decide competitive races. They're breaking heavily for Dem candidates this cycle. A blue wave is coming. The results will be so sweeping and decisive that these midterms (fingers crossed) should be Trump-proof. And I'm sure the Dems have lawyered up just in case Trump tries any shit.
