These types of games are of course a benefit. The winner takes over as #1, they have the inside track on the #1 overall seed. The national and recruiting exposure is massive. Donors love it.

The committee forgives early losses like these and losses in conference championship games. It’s bad losses that get you on the outside looking in.

Personally, I’ve always enjoyed watching the type of out of conference games where I get to watch some of the guys play that I wouldn’t ordinarily get to see much of during the Big Ten grind and I like the idea that they have had some live snaps if they need to get thrown into the fire early (if the guy ahead of them goes down)…

We’re down both our two starting corners who went out against, North Texas. There’s nothing to suggest a correlation between better competition and more injuries. Drop that line.
In reality the Big 10 grind doesn’t start until 10/10 when we go to Nebraska. We’ll have gone half a season without a win against a real team at that point.

One of our corners had already been tweaked in Camp and reinjured himself (sprain?), not sure what happened on the other side.
Sure…, injuries can occur in Any game but they are a heck of a lot more likely when you’re going up against a team that has similar strength and speed measurables…
