@carramrod yup Boeing just got a 131 billion dollar contract here for f 15s

As soon another company can build F-15’s or their equivalent cheaper…

I’m no expert, but it’s still a much used and needed weapons system to my understanding.

It’s not that Trump has spurned the defense primes. They still get their contracts. This is a transition, not a rip and replace.

There are lessons to be learned from Ukraine but not without the understanding that we are not Ukraine. The weapons systems we would employ as a response to a border invasion are far superior in quality and quantity to what they have at their disposal.

I tend towards keeping a strong defense posture. Maybe we slash the military budget significantly and roll the dice on the fall out. That’s a choice too. It could work, it’s a gamble.

@aloha-hoosier why would we need Ukraine to show us the way?  Why wouldn’t we have already known that?

I'm not sure that Ukraine is SHOWING us, except for the fact that they now have the best receipts from a new style of warfare, but it's allow us to learn. I am sure (HOPE) that this was war planned by us, but who knows.

I think the world has mostly prepared for 1-2-3 waves of 1,000 ppl attacking, instead of 1,000- 2,000- 3,000 waves of 1-2-3 warriors. (to put it in very elementary terms).

russia having to adjust tactics is making us change our focus. Ukraine's forced russia to adjust, so they are teaching us do to what they did to cause the adjustment.

@joe_hoopsier sorry, I don’t get it.

I don't believe that we have diminished our stock pile any amount that is a detriment. I feel that it's all a misdirection, but I am not sure what the goal is. BUT it usually has something to do with $$$.

Sorry, there is absolutely no doubt we've diminished our stockpiles. None. Remember, I was in the business - military and civilian for about 40 years.

Well, if we fire even one of anything, obviously that diminishes our inventory. I just don't buy that it is of any terminal consequence.

There are lies, damn lies and statistics.

OMG, we've lost 20% of our stock piles. 20% of 1 million vrs 20% of 10 are statistically different. I don't buy the fear mongering. Either we have been seriously overpaying with limited return, or it's all bullshit 4d chess for leveraging purposes.

Over 50 percent of some important stockpiles are gone.

Either way, it has been a huge waste of taxpayer money.  And all he has accomplished was closing the strait that was open pre-war.  I mean not war, minor conflict.

There is no positive spin.  No lipstick for that pig.

Trump backstabbed the kurds during his first term and is now showing how incapable he is in dealing with Iran.  Our influence in the region is at an all time low

Again, 50% of 1,000,000 is different than 50% of 2.

I know you have to have full and totally devote psychopathic blind trust.

But I also know how to identify bullshit. My only question is, is the bullshit about the remaining capabilities, or is the bullshit about what we have been paying for for 50 years..

Just so you know. I don't give a fuck what you type. You are a lost person. It's not personal, but there is ZERO that you and I will ever agree on.

The history of fearmongering has caused me to "trust but verify". If they are truly worried about what our inventory levels are. Then I/ WE are truly worried where our $ and planning have been for the least 50 yrs! Which fight you want to take? There is a shit ton of data to use.

This had better be a huge misdirection, false bullshit! Or there are a shit ton of answers that must be accounted for. If everything is up and up, then we are good. Where is that clean Audit?  OHHH thats right. This is not a you and me fight brother, but we can't have it both ways. WE either have not planned, or we are selling BS.

@joe_hoopsier our production capacity is not sufficient. We don't think as long term as we should. I’m hoping the current situation served as a swift kick in the ass.

That is quite a polite way of holding no one accountable. That seems to be a reoccurring issue. But I hear you, man!

Munitions have a shelf life. A long one, to be sure, but we aren't just sitting on a million years worth of missiles. They are designed to be used, or, if not used, eventually safely destroyed. The stockpile will always partially be a function of production capacity * storage capacity * longevity. Our storage capacity is probably near unlimited for practical purposes, but the other two variables are extremely important limiting numbers. As the war in Iran drags on, the number of munitions we have expended will gradually become less important compared to the number of munitions we are using each day.

I feel like too many Americans view war as a video game. Like we are just running around picking up continually spawning reloads and storing them in an infinite magazine which we can recharge in real time simply by pressing a button.

I expect milk and toilet paper shortages during a 2" snow fall.

I will not accept the $ we pay annually, for a 6 month skirmish, where the opponent was diminished to pot shots after a week, to believe we are either short on munitions,or are being feed bullshit. Who created a diminished MFG base? Shall I remind you why I lost my first business?

Now, seeming weak while strong is a deliberate tactic that I buy into. So lets see.

@goat no but we see a trillion dollars spent.  So this is the conflict we are in.  We have A through Z weapons. F and M are good for this. Well what are we spending all the rest on. And why are we buying expensive shit when cheap shit will do. And if we don’t really have boots on the ground why do have such a big military and pay healthcare and housing and on and on. We spend so much more than any other country and one conflict we can barely handle.

seems like something is off. And I have zero knowledge about any of this but it is weird.
