The Ragnar people have a disclaimer about wildlife encounters. They basically say something to the effect of the chance of encountering wildlife isn't zero, but for the most part the trails are all on well-traveled and frequently used parts of the parks that animals typically avoid. 

They forgot the last few words at the end - parts of the parks that animals typically avoid ...during the day.

@ohio-guy not at all.  bigfoot is real but they typically avoid people.  i'd be more worried about bears as they seem to be on the attack this year.  just make sure you aren't the slowest one in the race....

Yeah, look at the reports of them invading northwest Indiana.
