My mom had it pretty bad at the end but interestingly she was very alert in the present moment, aware of her environment but talking about herself sent her babbling.
At one point I had asked her some question which she simply couldn’t answer, and then out of curiosity, I asked her what she would say to one of her students if they asked her (the exact same question). She ripped off ten minutes of sophisticated rational thought. It didn’t work just once. It worked every time.
