Nationalism requires elements of common and shared ideology, politics, sovereignty, etc. Your examples don’t.

The hell they don't. How can you type that with a straight face? Irish Republicanism, Basque separatism, et al. didn't have all those elements? GTFO here. You're just being disagreeable for lulz at this point.

Tariffs have been a tax on American businessmen who import anything, many of whom are working stiffs.  Not foreigners.  And whether they are working stiffs or not, the tariff costs get passed on to the consumers, across all socioeconomic classes.  Yeah, the rich probably drink more French wine and froo-froo beer. But they don't buy disproportionate amounts of coffee, bananas, cocoa, spices, car parts, and a hundred other things.

@jdb not sure there is a middle.  I think there are 3 different views on immigration. The old guard GOP wants mass legal immigration for cheap labor.  The Democratic establishment wants mass legal or illegal immigration.  And the rest of the country wants little to no immigration.

Tariffs haven't done shit for affordability for the bottom 50-75% of society.

The bottom 75% don't drink coffee, eat fruits and veggies, or buy any of the 100s of things affected by tariffs? REALLY?

Almost 60% of all spending is driven by the top 10% of society today.  Yes, the bottom 75% consume all of those things.  And thankfully at home food costs are more affordable today than they were when Trump took office. Food at home CPI is 3.4% since he took office.  Nominal wages have increased 5.5%. The drag on the economy and affordability has been the Iran War.  Essentially, tariffs have been a tax on the wealthy and foreigners.  And the media has somehow convinced liberals its a bad thing, because of their TDS.

It's like you are trying to use alt stats like BABIP or Barrel Rate to convince us your fave baseball player is way better than he is.  People know when shit is expensive.  It's not this admin's fault housing costs so much or interest rates are so high, but jacking up prices on top of that via tariffs and the war were self owns.

Good luck telling people they're safe from tariffs because they were already too broke to buy much anyway.  By chance, have you worked for the government?

@el-zee I don't care to debate feelings.  The numbers are the numbers.  Food at home is more affordable today than it was when Biden left.  I already admitted the Iran War has been a drag on affordability, because that's true.  Tariffs being a drag on affordability for a majority of Americans isn't true.

Irish Republicanism

Mostly religious.

Basque separatism

A protest group devoid of anything that  makes a nation.  Kinda like a larger Seattle chop zone.

@co-hoosier I'm not sure it's possible to be more wrong than you are in that post.
