I just saw this facebook post of Mike Love 'performing' recently with "The Beach Boys" (spoiler alert, he's the only actual Beach Boy on stage). I suppose if people are willing to shill out what it costs to go to a concert these days for a performance like that, more power to him. That said, I would be majorly disappointed and a little sad in seeing that. He's 85 and according to a statement John Stamos put out, he was there against his doctor's orders. And supposedly it's actually his son Christian Love doing all the singing. It's sad. It reminded me of the Frankie Valli clip where he was lipsynching badly to his older stuff.
Conversely, Ringo Starr is 86 and still going strong. He probably could kick John Stamos' ass.
@ohio-guy yeah the quality takes a nose dive and it's either just a grift or to sate their desire for applause. no one wants to see messi play 60

Depends. Futsal in a dimly lit indoor basketball court against schlubs? I'd pay $5 for PPV.
......
See below. Favorite band. Favorite sound. Favorite guitarist. 26 years difference. I ain't ruining my memories by taking a chance. Father Time comes for us all and he always collects.

Except Keith Richards. That dude must have naked pictures of the grim reapers wife.

I love the Beatles and usually jump at the chance to see Paul McCartney on tour. High ticket prices combined with him slipping in the last few years made me pass on seeing him last year. I think he might quietly be done though. The drummer he's been playing with just joined up with Pearl Jam. The Rolling Stones haven't announced anything, but there are little comments here and there that Keith Richards has said he doesn't want to tour anymore.
I did see Ringo about 3 years ago now. All things considered, it wasn't a bad show. He still has decent energy for being in his 80s and you know every song he and the All Starr Band play. Colin Hay killed it with his Men At Work stuff, Edgar Winter sounded good and even the Toto stuff was good. I don't know that I'd go see any of those bands on their own - maybe Colin Hay because he was that good - but between the Beatles songs and all those other chart toppers it was a good show.

Age is catching up to even him. Supposedly he's the reason the Stones didn't do a tour to accompany the record they put out last spring. He's open to doing a residency somewhere. I'd go see them at the Sphere is they did something like that.
Keith is just hoping the oldsters can keep the world from collapsing for the youngsters like him and Willie.

The saddest part about aging rock stars is that there are not any younger ones out there to take their place.
Rock will be dead before I am, I fear. Meanwhile, rap still exists.

I’ve seen film of Gladys Knight performing and it’s so sad. She’s wandering around the stage and she obviously doesn’t even know where she is.

I'm concerned for all music in the future. And writing.
Is it real, or is it Memorex?

Boomers refuse to hang them up.
There was a major conference where we voted to keep all the houses and all the money and leave you all with the best music ever, the debt and, oh, the 🖕.

I've seen several old stars perform and while they aren't as good as in their prime it was still worth it. I saw Buddy Guy and at 80, he was just awesome. Frampton, Clapton, Jeffrey Lynn final ELO tour, and several others were great. So keep livin and keep em coming.
What do I do when some of these old stars go away. Right now I got Joe Bonnamusa, Jackie Venson and Gary Clark Jr. who are faves and I like to attend their shows.

GenX music > boomer music. Certainly leaving us all of the debt and crying about Medicare and SS.
You must believe in unicorns if you believe Gen X music is superior.
Make your case.
Are you going to tell me that grunge, new wave and hip hop are superior? Oh, the humanity.
