good question. I asked ChatGpT and Grok and both indicated that R&D as a percentage of revenue is much higher than direct to consumer (DTC) costs. Apparently this wasn’t the case back in the 70s and 80s where pharma actually spent more on DTC than R&D.
Yeah, but there's a whole helluva lot more spent on marketing beyond DTC.
50y/o. Lisinopril, Extendz
and on a related note, another thing that really chaps my ass
yeah, this is supposed to be funny but it is the absolute truth

Prior Auths are the biggest bunch of bullshit and a nightmare for patients, providers, etc. It's certainly one of the best arguments for universal insurance IMO.
Maybe if we banned ads, prices would go down
I've always wondered how these companies' research budgets compare to their marketing budgets.
I'll tell you what...
When it's late at night and I've taken a gummy, those commercials are like short films. There's always so much going on.

Eliminate the PBMs and you eliminate the prior auths…yes I’m a broken record but it’s the first step towards affordable prescriptions

I don't disagree about breaking up PBMs, but that's only part of the Prior Auth battle. If you need elective surgery, inpatient or IOP mental health treatment, etc., you generally need these.

When I'm looking for a trip, nothing sounds better than a Cialis commercial

Was it healthcare advice? I think I'm just saying you have a choice and are going against your own values. You should stand tall and practice herbal medicines. Don't feed the Big Pharma beast!
There are retreats around beating cancer and all kinds of shit without Pharma involvement. Book one!
You trust them with your health but describe it as a murderous business model?
Make it make sense

Insipid.
Where did the word trust appear?
There is no contradiction when one is coerced and blackmailed into some level of dependency upon an entity they abhor.
Big Pharma is the yetzer hara of this era.
