@ohio-guy the reality is that if you want to find a city with high crime you are almost guaranteed to find two things: a large population of blacks and a dem mayor.  back out blue cities and there will be little to no violent crime in america.  dems are soft on crime.  they rely on the black vote and have to pander.  this isn't a revelation

@mcm666 except black voters consistently and overwhelmingly are supportive of a larger police presence that never seems to come to fruition.

There is some sort of disconnect here.

What is going on with leftist political leaders?

It’s the distinct lack of impulse control that scares me most.. I don’t know how much of that is genetic and how much is environmental.

So you're saying black people have a 'distinct lack of impulse control.' Damn dude. And this thread was doing so well with not crossing into racist territory.

I don’t know what it is. Why are some of them so quick to violence?

Baltimore has made great progress in reducing crime with Democrats.  I think the difference is not allowing Soros Democrats be in charge.

Google AI:

baltimore murder rates down

Multiple sources confirm that

Baltimore is experiencing a significant and sustained decrease in its homicide rate.
  • Year-to-Date (as of August 1, 2025): The city has seen a 24.3% decrease in homicides and an 18.3% decline in non-fatal shootings compared to the same time last year. As of July 1st, 2025, Baltimore had 68 homicides, the fewest in over 50 years for the first six months of a year.
  • Recent Trends: In 2024, Baltimore recorded 201 homicides, a 13-year low and a significant drop compared to previous years. This followed a nearly 20% drop in homicides in 2023.
  • Factors contributing to the decline:
    • Group Violence Reduction Strategy (GVRS): This strategy focuses on a small number of individuals most likely to be involved in gun violence, offering both accountability and services like life coaching, job training, and support.
    • Emphasis on handgun offenses: Baltimore City State's Attorney Ivan Bates has prioritized prosecuting handgun offenses, particularly those involving felons in possession and drug traffickers.
    • Community violence intervention programs: Initiatives like Safe Streets and the Summer Youth Engagement Strategy engage with young people and mediate conflicts to prevent violence.
    • Collaboration: Increased partnerships between the Mayor's office, Baltimore Police Department, State's Attorney's Office, and community organizations are credited with the positive trend.
    • Holistic approach: Mayor Brandon Scott attributes the success to treating violent crime as a public health issue, addressing underlying factors like racism, poverty, and past violence.
While the decline is historic, leaders like Mayor Scott emphasize that more work remains to be done to achieve lasting safety and security.

@ohio-guy do you have an answer to 27/30 highest crime cities being run by Democrats. An explanation?

14/30 DA’s being Soros funded?

Attack the source all you like, but you don’t have any sources more reputable.

LOL - the Heritage Foundation didn't invalidate the Third Way report:

How do you explain that the murder rate in red states has been consistently higher than that in blue states for the better part of the last few decades?

Almost 90% of black men in Baltimore have been arrested at least once.  Maybe things have improved but it isn't saying much.

The violence flowing from social problems are not specific to blacks.  Las Cruces and Albuquerque would be examples.  Same for a few Indian reservations.

@ohio-guy what is this? Why are you being obtuse? I explained why blue cities in red states have a murder problem. Bad local governance. Cops and states attorney’s are controlled by local government. Dufus.

If you would like red state governors to take a larger hand in local governance just say so.

But my guess is you would whine, bitch, moan and complain were that to Happen.

Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama have the highest murder rates.

Based on the most recent available data:Louisiana (LA): 30.3% Black or African American (2023)

Mississippi (MS): 37.8% Black or African American (2023)

Alabama (AL): 26.6% Black or African American (2023)

Here are some blue states:

Based on the most recent available data from 2023:Massachusetts (MA): 6.5% Black or African American

Connecticut (CT): 9.9% Black or African American

New York (NY): 14.8% Black or African American (U.S. Census Bureau, 2023 Population Estimates)

You aren't helping your side there Ohio.

@co-hoosier it's mostly blacks.  stl is the most dangerous city in america.  the violent crime is 99% black

@carramrod For what it's worth, you didn't really explain anything. You leaned on a Heritage Foundation 'report.' And yes, I did link to the report they were trying to refute. The essentially cancel each other out.

Causes of inner city crime are more nuanced and complicated than saying George Soros secretly funds a cabal of Democratic elected officials to let poor black people get away with whatever.

I'm not really sure I have a side here, other than being against the idea that black people are inherently criminals.

@ohio-guy it's not much more nuanced.

ST. LOUIS — 25,000 cases dismissed.

2,735 cases dismissed by judges for failure to prosecute.

Final report in former St. Louis circuit attorney investigation | ksdk.com

Soros at work.  this current iteration of the dem party has to be the dumbest collection of politicians and supporters in american history.  hence even trump got reelected
