Gold is Trump's marble:
Rome began extensive building with marble during the Augustan period (27 BC – 14 AD), under Emperor Augustus, though some earlier structures like the Temple of Hercules Victor (late 2nd century BC) also used it. Augustus famously claimed he found Rome a city of brick and left it a city of marble, but this referred more to the extensive use of marble as a decorative facing over brick and concrete, made possible by newly opened marble quarries at Luna (modern Carrara).
- Early use:Marble was first introduced to Rome as a building material, rather than just imported spoils, in the mid-2nd century BC.
- Limited use:During the Roman Republic, marble was seen as an extravagance and was used sparingly. Buildings were typically constructed from brick and concrete, with only some early structures, such as the late 2nd-century BC Temple of Hercules Victor, using marble.
- Massive construction:Augustus initiated a massive construction program that transformed the city's appearance.
- Local quarries opened:The opening of the Luna marble quarries in Italy provided a reliable, local source of marble, fueling this building boom.
- Propaganda:Augustus used marble for self-presentation and propaganda, with ambitious construction projects, such as the Forum of Augustus, demonstrating the power and grandeur of his reign.
- "City of Marble":The famous quote by Augustus, "I found Rome a city of brick and left it a city of marble," reflects this period of extensive marble construction and facing, not a complete transformation of the entire city into solid marble.
I've seen worse. I don't agree with it being larger than the damn White House though.
Being completely honest it looks awesome.

That's what the architects envision. Trump will pimp it up before they're done.
it does look awesome, but it’s too big. 900 for dinner? I think 5 or 6 hundred would have been plenty.
Gold is Trump’s marble:
Trump does opulence very well. The thing smacks of power and excellence without being gaudy.
A good friend will bail you out of jail, but your best friend will be sitting next to you in the cell saying "that was f***ing awesome"
"CBS News reported last week that corporate and individual donors have pledged nearly $200 million to cover construction costs, and fundraising is ongoing. Google, R.J. Reynolds, Booz Allen Hamilton, Lockheed Martin, Palantir and NextEra Energy have donated, sources told CBS News, and so have firms in the tech, manufacturing, banking and health industries."
Those aren't donations, those are investments. This is a waste of resources, I don't care how nice it looks.

It’s very Euro. Needs more fireplaces, more wood panel, more buck heads on the walls.
it should be 0 because it's completely unnecessary. But honestly who gives a shit.it does look awesome, but it’s too big. 900 for dinner? I think 5 or 6 hundred would have been plenty.
I reckon they could hire a crew of Amish fellers and have it done by week's end...
If it's good enough for a square dance it should be good enough for a fancy White House shindig.

That would be awesome. I’m all for this.
I mean if they are worried about a clash of aesthetics, do a white sheathing for the siding, a coppered or bronzed tin roof, and marble glazing of the concrete foundation and slab.
What is more American than a barn or a barn dance?
