I need help from you traditional lefties.  First of all I love you all.  Even you Aloha 🥰 Now that I have my hugs and kisses out of the way.  The polling results show females and foreigners (broken up into how many years they'd lived in New York) to New York voted heavily for Mandami.  My question is why do 1st and 2nd generation immigrants favor Socialism over regular Democrats?

I understand women.  They'll trade security for freedoms.  And since a lot more of them have forgone marriage, they've turned to the state for that security.  I don't get immigrants though.  Are they lazy? Dumb? Scared? It aligns more with their homeland's culture?  Everyone outside the U.S. is a far lefty?  It's trendy? I'm open to all ideas.

Your fundamental problem is the assumption that "socialism" was what made Mamdani attractive for all of his voters. He got 8% of the Trump vote. You think those people voted for him because he's a socialist? I doubt it.

Figure out why he was attractive (hint: it's not that far removed from why Trump was attractive), and you'll realize you're barking up the wrong tree on this one.

There's a major appetite for populism.  It's coming.  It's just a matter of what form.

Socialism/communism has worked so well everywhere it’s been tried we just have to try it here.

All I ask is that if any New Yorkers want to escape to Georgia, North/South Carolina, Florida or Tennessee, please don’t bring your voting habits with you.

As cops turn in their papers in large quantities, rentable apartments become even more impossible to find and schools become more worthless, don’t turn to everyone else to bail you out.

Can anyone here play this game?

No, he really didn't. Your news feed may have told you that's what he ran on, but it's not what he actually ran on.

Maybe in the selective quotes you saw on your feed, but it's not what he ran on. It's not why most people voted for him.

@univee2 I agree, thankfully we won't suffer.  New Yorkers will.  This is an excellent post of what will in my opinion, especially if we're able keep the border closed and limit immigration for  the next decade or two.

So what did he run on, & why did most people vote for him?

Mamdani  kicked incivility and meanness in politics up a notch. If you can’t afford to live in one of the highest COL cities in the country, it’s the wealthy’s fault.
