Pro-Life people say that life begins at conception and all life is sacred (or something similar to that). And that's an understandable position even though i personally believe there should be exceptions when the life of the mother is at risk, the baby isn't viable (wouldn't make it) or rape.
What I fail to understand is how pro-life doesn't apply to every aspect.
Why are pro-lifers generally against stricter gun control? If stricter gun control leads to even 1 person not being killed, then isn't that worth it since all life is sacred? And the response is often that it's the shooter at fault...not the gun. If that person was wielding a knife instead, then it would be more difficult to kill. Another typical response is people would just get guns illegally...but over time that would be more difficult if less guns were on the streets.
Why were pro-lifers against taking precautions during a pandemic? Even if you don't think that wearing masks and social distancing saved lives, you can't prove that it didn't. If all lives are sacred, then isn't an inconvenience worth even a possibility that a life is saved.
How are pro-lifers against vaccines? There is proof that vaccines have saved lives and all lives are sacred after all.
How are pro-lifers for the death penalty? Lives stop being sacred when it's a criminal?
If a person is really pro-life, then they should be against anything that takes a life...not just abortion.
If all life is sacred, I see no justification for a rape exception.
If all life is sacred, I see no justification for a rape exception.
that part was my opinion, which is why i said "i personally believe". That I is why I fall under pro-choice vs what is really just pro-birth. Once people are born, the people who fall under "pro-choice" have a tendency to be more pro-life than those saying they are pro-life when it comes to other disagreements, such as the subjects I mentioned in gun control, vaccines, listening to pandemic advice, and death penalty.
I think the pro-life opinion is reasonable, except the people that claim to be pro-life seem to be picking and choosing what they are pro-life about and what they aren't....which is what doesn't make any sense. All life is sacred...or it's not....not something that should be a la carte.
