How terrible.  Let's hope some good investigative journalists dig into this.

Those kids are the worst. Can't remove them fast enough. To reunite them with their families, of course.

And obviously, before they reach voting age.

Can we keep them around for the soccer teams, though?

Snide remarks like this kind of paper over the question as to why the Biden admin. was facilitating the entry of unaccompanied minors and placing them with strangers.

Yeah, we should keep them here so you can have cheaper vegetables and to keep the kiddie porn industry thriving.  Children are dispensible, right?

What will it take for you to care and be disgusted by Biden's border policy?

Well, since the kids we are talking about started coming in under Trump, I guess a good beginning would be explaining exactly which part was "Biden's border policy" instead of just throwing up your arms and screaming "BIDENBIDENBIDENDEMSDEMSDEMS" over and over again like a lunatic.

Just to be clear, I'm not dismissing any complaints about policy or results. I'm just pointing out that exactly zero of you whiny bitches have taken the time to make any connection whatsoever between these kids and any policy Biden put in place. Do at least the bare minimum of fucking work before you have the audacity to demand other people kowtow to your outrage.

Good grief, you are such a partisan that you can't even admit when Biden's policies are wrong and bad for humanity.

AI Overview:

Recent New York Times and other investigative reports have highlighted serious concerns about the exploitation, including potential sex trafficking, of unaccompanied migrant children released to sponsors within the United States. The issue has drawn bipartisan condemnation and led to increased oversight of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which is responsible for the children's well-being.

New York Times reporting on migrant child exploitation

Widespread exploitation: A February 2023 New York Times investigation found that hundreds of thousands of unaccompanied minors have come into the country, and that the federal government was unable to track tens of thousands of them. Many of these children ended up in exploitative situations, including dangerous labor conditions, after being placed with sponsors.

Failures to follow up: A follow-up Times report in February 2024 detailed a government review that found HHS failed to safeguard many migrant children by neglecting to make timely follow-up calls to check on the children's welfare. Data showed HHS was unable to reach more than 85,000 children over a two-year period.

Pressure for faster placement: The reporting indicated that Biden administration officials pressured staff to release children from shelters more quickly, allegedly prioritizing speed over safety. One internal memo cited by the Times stated that the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement had become one "that rewards individuals for making quick releases, and not one that rewards individuals for preventing unsafe releases".

Allegations of sex trafficking

While most reports have focused on child labor, sex trafficking is part of the larger concern surrounding the safety of unaccompanied children.

Increased risk: Congressional testimony from September 2023 highlighted that the increased number of unaccompanied minors at the border puts many children at a high risk of sexual exploitation. An expert noted that the children being sold into "sex slavery" would not agree that the current border policies are humane.

Exploitation by sponsors: The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit in July 2024 against Southwest Key, a large operator of migrant shelters, alleging its employees subjected children to sexual harassment and abuse. This followed a May 2025 DHS report detailing the rescue of a pregnant 14-year-old from a sponsor, and the discovery of three other children who were subject to sexual abuse and potential labor exploitation.

Government acknowledgement: Recent government news releases from the summer of 2025 demonstrate ongoing efforts to combat sex and labor trafficking among migrants, including specific instances of rescuing child victims.

Government response and actions

Investigations and reforms: In early 2025, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Justice announced actions to end sexual abuse and harassment in migrant child shelters, including halting new placements with certain providers.

Legislative action: Members of Congress have introduced bills aimed at addressing the issue, such as requiring DNA testing to verify family relationships and creating a national database for tracking.

Increased enforcement efforts: The Biden administration has launched initiatives like Joint Task Force Alpha, aimed at disrupting and prosecuting human smuggling and trafficking organizations. The Department of Homeland Security also continues to coordinate efforts to rescue child victims of trafficking.
