I don’t think this is an overstatement. I haven’t examined every race, but I think in every case where a female dem ran against a gop male, the dem won. Of course there are other factors, but there are reasons for the current wave of female political success in Dem primaries and general elections. It is not all about Trump
When you consider the many decades of boys getting screwed in k-12 education and the not infrequent hostility towards white males in government and business, this shouldn’t be a surprise.
Edit: Just read Mark Teixeira is an exception to my observation.
Obviously MAGA has no clue about how to fix the economy.
The problem is believing government can “fix” the economy. The best thing government can do is get out of the way and allow those who actually are the economy fix it. Trump was on the right track with deals like Audi, but all of that is now in the shitter.
yup...although they can do things to screw it up (like tariffs or wars), they aren't as responsible as political parties try to pretend when using it as an attack on the other party.
Both parties blame the other when the economy is bad under their watch. It's very effective in tricking voters in both parties and often what voters say is their #1 issue.
If a voter believed a vote for a democrat was a vote for affordability, they got taken. The democrats were always driven by going after Trump. The affordability message was a ruse.
both parties use affordability as a campaign tool when they can fit it into their narrative. Lets not pretend that's just a dirty trick used by one party.
Trump did shoot himself in the foot re:affordability when he enacted tariffs and started the iran war. Would promising affordability have worked so well if Trump hadn't inflated prices with his bad choices?
Respectfully disagree. DeSantis had a window but it has since closed, I think.
He'll be out of office soon and, unless Trump appoints him to a Cabinet position or some other key post, he'll be largely irrelevant by the time the 2028 presidential primary season begins. I know that isn't always dispositive but he's got the additional difficulty of being kind of a quirky, socially awkward, hard to relate to guy.
I think it depends how he plays it.
Yes, he'll be out of office soon, but that means that he can dedicate 100% of his time to campaigning and doesn't have to waste time in DC and wont have votes on his record that democrats can use against him.
If the Democrats do go full impeachment mode, he can sit back on social media and complain about how they are wasting their time / not using their mandate opportunity to pass laws, etc.
He wont be in DC, so he wont have the Trump stink on him that Vance and Rubio are going to inherit.
And with Texas now being kinda blue, Florida is the most populous, successful red state. He can play that card pretty hard and probably show how well Florida has been doing economically, which will likely be better than even most blue states not named California.
It may well come down to that "quirky, socially awkward" issue, but if he can push the economy angle, that might well make up for any deficiencies he has when compared to other candidates.
Seriously, who are the biggest names in the Republican party now? Vance / Rubio will have their trouble distancing themselves from Trump. Vivek just crashed out. Johnson just quit his leadership role. Miller would get killed in a debate when ICE overreach is brought up. Thune? He hasn't shown any desire for the high office yet, but it's still two years away, so maybe.
So unless you get an out-of-nowhere candidate like how Obama crashed onto the scene in 2004, I think DeSantis has a decent shot if he were to try again.
@squeakyclean You make some good points.
Might Cruz have an inside track? Could Don Bacon be a dark horse? What about one of the non-loyalists who has been pushed out? No one specifically is coming to mind. Comey, maybe?
Finally, it's really not two years away. Presidential candidates usually declare their candidacies about a year and a half before Election Day. The first primary is just 15 months from now.
@hurryinghoosiers yet your mentally vapid ass doesnt believe dems increased inflation. jstfu. you have the intellect of a middle schooler.
@hurryinghoosiers stupid people like you are ruining the country. get off the internet and find a book. dunning kruger dipshit.

Could go with Adam Kinzinger but he wouldn't make it past the primaries due to having a spine and standing up to Trump.
Would have to be someone MAGA enough to get through the primaries and someone non-MAGA enough to sway independents in the general. Basically someone adept at talking out both sides of their rear. maybe mcmurt should run lol
@hurryinghoosiers stupid people like you are ruining the country. get off the internet and find a book. dunning kruger dipshit.
nice insult moron.
Nope, maga morons like you ruined the country
do you understand that inflation hit 9 percent under biden. that that is what created the affordability mess we have today? or are you still lying?both parties use affordability as a campaign tool when they can fit it into their narrative
@hurryinghoosiers oh no. affordability came about with alllllll of the free cheese that biden gave away. trump didn't remove it but the source has a face to it. joe biden. have someone read this to you over and over and over again.
@hurryinghoosiers see that's the thing stupid. dems haven't done anything good. not a single thing. so don't read more into this than there is. it's simply a referendum on trump.
