@cavanagh you guys are unbelievable. Dorn's returning from a months long injury. It often takes guys time to acclimate, and trust the injured body part. He may not pan out, but it's way to early to declare he can't contribute.

Bailey's always had limitations and they were known before he came to IU. He won't be a + defender or rebounder, but I think is here for his offense. Can make the occasional open jumper but very good passing and handling the ball. He's going to contribute in spurts.

It's like some people forgot or don't know who Steve Eyl or Chris Reynolds were.

@willray don’t forget we sucked last year and missed the tourney.  Running us out of the gym wasn’t a great accomplishment.  We should have much bigger expectations than Nebraska last year.

You're still making his point... we had a big last year that could bang down low with other B1G bigs and we still sucked.

@cavanagh Bailey might be providing all he's capable but let's hope he steps it up against the Kansas State, Louisville, Big 10 teams, etc. If Alexis is the sole major frontline contributor the 2025-26 season will be a very long one.

@kkott I too don't see the Dorn trashing. Let's get the kid on the court and time to acclimate. The team needs another frontline contributor to help Sam Alexis on the boards. I don't have an answer but hopefully coach can earn his big bucks by coming up with some kind of reasonable solution. Who knows? Perhaps a healthy Josh Harris can provide the answer.

@mushroomgod ehhh can’t play against all the bad teams.  Lindenwood made him look like shit early.

The biggest issue with roster construction is we are a guard short. We need Harris healthy (I’m not sure that is going to soon) to see if we can play him with Sam, Tucker, Lamar, and Conerway.

@hoosiers94 He sure hasn't played well the last couple games, that's for sure.  I give CDD enough credit, shockingly over the likes of you and Cav, that he was not recruited to be our "5" man.  Hell, we don't know if CDD even thinks in terms of having a traditional "5" man.  Obviously someone has to guard other teams bigs, and try to rebound with them, so he's one of the tall guys CDD brought in to help do that.  And that is not his primary strength, that is becoming more obvious every game he plays.  And his minutes are dwindling because of how much he's struggling in those areas.  But he's the same guy that was the most efficient guy on our roster, until last game.  He's the same guy that excelled in PR.  Same guy that was catching lob dunks off the backboard when we were rolling the first 3 games, and then locking down the other teams PG defensively on the very next possession.

I don't love him any more than I do any of the other players.  He's one of our tall guys.  He needs to be A LOT more tough than he's been the last couple games.  We need CDD to trust him enough to play him more minutes.  I agree with all the criticisms of the last couple games.  And I share the specific concerns about him struggling against size and strength.

But I'm able to do that... while also recognizing the positive things he brings to the table.  And how those positive things can, and have, jived with how CDD wants to run his system.

@iunorth he is going to get pounded vs good teams.   Very easy to see he’s not a big ten level player.  swing and miss paid him a million plus.  Awful move by coach.

i can agree with some of your points. But as positive as those points are ... imo his negatives outweigh them.  Sure he looks good against inferior opponents... or rather opponents in his own zip code.  But if DD thought it would be adequate come conference play then we have a problem.  Not saying he did ... but it was a miss and if that's all we could attract I then question our ability to attract the right kind of players.   So it's either his type of players don't cut it on big ten or he can't get the right type of players.  Or he plugged a gap with a toothpick, literally and we limp through this season. Either way the kid isn't what we need and will struggle the rest of the year.   Hope I'm wrong.

We've only seen him play against undersized post players not the slow footed 1990s throw back dinosaurs of the big ten.

No idea how he will do but it's still a bit early to judge accurately

The quick athletic type his size and under will certainly give him issues but until he faces off against the  oversized sloths we have no clue how he will do.

Not gonna call you Nostradumbass yet but you're really pushing it. Lol..

I freaking hate Big Ten tackle basketball and the focus on interior play. The conference needs modernized. The post up is the least efficient play in basketball. Its why the conference does poorly in tourney play.

This team will be killed on the boards and will be a layup drill most nights in the Big Ten with no rim protector. Not looking good to me.

My point was that we had a big that was supposed to be a star, and that didn't get us anywhere.

We'll see.  We blew out Marquette and beat Baylor.  Tuesday will tell us a lot.

@scam-likely he has shot one three this year.  I was told he was going to stretch the floor.  If he doesn’t shoot threes he is not going to add any value.

@cavanagh

exaclty what I've been saying as well. He can't shoot the 3 .. he can shoot the mid range but that doesn't stretch the d enough.  And that is if he can get separation.. which takes speed and strength... he has neither.  I don't care if he can "bring" the ball up the court.  Which I don't think he does well anyway.  I have guards for that, get it to them.

and no way he stands toe to toe with Oscar Cluff.  No way.  Or the dudes on MSU or  UM. Etc.  seen those teams play already.  He will struggle and hence we will.
