@kkott To flip back the other way on all this... there's no question Bailey needs to get a little more tough. Those rebounds and loose balls he gets his hands on, he needs to pull those down. That's more of an intensity and grit thing, than him playing out of position, or being weak or anything. Now, when he gets rooted out, or bumped off his line, or just buried on a good post up... that's where his limitations are, and there isn't a ton that can be done about that.
Seems like we may want to watch a few games over the next 5-6 weeks and take it easy.
Bailey has looked a bit soft at the rim. That said, the dude runs and IU seems to be efficient with him in the rotation. Nobody likes soft basketball. He will have to earn praise here.
Dorn has run up and down the floor a few times. I don't see how anyone can assess his effectiveness. He does seem jumpy, and IU needs a jumpy dude that can make shots.
I'm looking forward to being at the game tomorrow. I'm happy to be interested.
@hoosiers94 You and Cav are ridiculous. He was first team All Conference in the A10 last year. He is a really good FORWARD. Bailey and Alexis are different types of players. And for sure, an argument could be made that we should start Trent and Alexis, and have Bailey come off the bench. I don't hate that approach, at all... But just stop with your hyperbole BS dragging one of our better players down as far as you are. You're both showing how shallow your depth of knowledge on the game of basketball is.
Bailey's numbers... 18.8 MPG, 11.8 ppg, 4rpg, 2.5apg, 0.5 spg, 0.5bpg, 71.4 overall FG%, 84.2 FT %, 100% 3p %
Alexis's numbers... 21.0 MPG, 12.3 ppg, 6.3rpg, 1.5apg, 0.0spg, 1.0bpg, 72.7 overall FG%, 84.2 FT %, 50% 3p %
Sisley's numbers... 20.5 MPG, 8.3 ppg, 4 rpg, 1.0 apg, 0.0 spg, 0.3bpg, 53.8 overall FG%, no free throw attempts, 45.5 3p %
Basically the exact same per minute production for Alexis and Bailey. Alexis can do some more things than Bailey can do, that a traditional big needs to do. Bailey can do some more things than Alexis can do, that a more perimeter oriented forward needs to do.
They're both valuable tall people on our roster. Sisley isn't as efficient, or productive, as either one of them...for what its worth. And he isn't even close to as good a perimeter defender as Bailey is.
BFD. A10 doesn't = Big 10. He is what he is. You're ridiculous for thinking he's something g he's not ..., time to embrace reality. He's got some attributes yes... he's no more than a role player for a Big ten team. Shit I think a strong wind could blow him over. He won't be able to bang down low. He's not a true 3 point shooter so he's not going to stretch the floor like someone like Ware did. And he's pretty much all we have at this point. Alexis is also slight of build. I question his ability to bang down low ... but he's got quickness and hops which he may be able to use that to over come his lack of strength
he’s no more than a role player for a Big ten team.
Again, in my opinion, it depends on how he's used. If you're expecting him to guard the other team's 5s then, yes, he's going to struggle and often fail at that. But, you pair him up with a player who can guard the other teams 5, and a couple shooters like Wilkerson and DeVries, with his ball handling, driving and passing he would be wicked. The problem isn't Bailey, imo, the problem is we didn't sign someone would could handle the other teams 5, that's not Baileys fault. We are where we are, but he could be a lot more effective in that scenario. Dusty May would have him averaging 15+ppg in the B10. Like I said, I'm hoping Harris comes back, or we play the big foreign kid and don't redshirt him and find a way to get Bailey on the floor with someone who can defend the post and I think he'd be a much more effective player.
Some teams could out muscle us or bully us, but man are we hard to defend. I'm fine winning every game 95-90 as long as we win of course lol
Check out my latest at Hoosier Huddle here
@evanalvarez8 Watching the highest ranked teams (UConn and AZ last night for instance) it's hard for me to think their athleticism and size won't catch up to us for teams like that. But, if we're hitting, that will probably make us competitive with almost anyone.
@hoosiers94 Its very possible Bailey is both quicker, and a better leaper, than Alexis. In fact, I'd say its likely he is.
No one is saying he's going to be All B10. But he's not just a "role player" either. And if he is, so is Alexis.
Every time you post on this subject, you're exposing your depth of knowledge of the game.
He's 6-10, can defend all positions. Ironically, he's a better defender on the ball, than he is on good bigs... but his ability to defend away from the basket is a HUGE asset. He's also very comfortable handling the ball in transition, and away from the basket in the half court. He isn't good, or comfortable finishing against contact or congestion at the rim. But having a guy his size, that can bring the ball up the floor, can pass the ball well out of the pinch post, can operate comfortably in pick and roll situations... is a huge benefit. And finally, he is a good lob threat. He's finished many lobs for dunks, but he's also drawn a decent amount of fouls with lobs or passes at the rim.
If he could finish through contact better, if he was a higher volume 3 point shooter, he'd be a better version of Danny Wolf, and would already be in the NBA. He's not. That's ok. It means he won't be First team All B10, and won't be a first round draft pick...but he will likely be a solid tall player for IU this year. And certainly not what you're depicting him as.
20-25 minutes a game. Efficient 10-5-4, versatile inside/outside play... that's not how you're categorizing him. Yet, that's likely what he's going to be.
They seem to be forgetting how Nebraska ran us out of the gym last year when we had the big guy for a center. This team will win a lot of games when they are shooting the 3 at a high level like they did the first three games. Go IU!!Some teams could out muscle us or bully us, but man are we hard to defend. I'm fine winning every game 95-90 as long as we win of course lol
@willray don’t forget we sucked last year and missed the tourney. Running us out of the gym wasn’t a great accomplishment. We should have much bigger expectations than Nebraska last year.

Wow....comparing him to Wolf? If my aunt had balls...........Don't see it, but he can play against the Longwoods of the world, and there are some bad BT teams that won't expose him as much.
@mushroomgod ehhh can’t play against all the bad teams. Lindenwood made him look like shit early.
sorry but you're not telling me anything I don't already know or see. You're bantering back and forth and constant use of your pathetic ability to communicate back and forth tells me you're a blow hard. He wasn't recruited to do what you putting up here. He's playing the 5 in our lineup. Or do you not comprehend the lineup. He's a weakness in conference play. Hell he's been a weakness thus far tonight against lindenwood.
alexis is also a role player. If he wasn't he'd still be at Florida. He was available because he was expendable.
you can't put lipstick on a pig.

exactly. IUNorth is either related to him or in love with him. Dog doesn't hunt
And I don't give a horses ass what middle of the road division 3 team you played for. Not buying that load is shit with your attempted fancy verbiage and analysis. Bunk
@hoosiers94 he types a lot. Bailey will be a non factor against any good team.
