Thank you for reading Hoosier Huddle
the season isn't over by any stretch but while the loss to kentucky was rough, the loss to minnesota was exponentially worse. if you were going to go 2-2 in the high major games, you couldn't lose to minnesota.
they need to do what illinois did and add a big mid season...i'm not joking either.
It seems to me DD needs to realize the teams limitations. We are going to be outmanned all year. We foul a lot….we can’t play every team man to man and expect to be in games. He needs to implement some type of zone to go to at times. I thought he should have tried it at UK. We were in foul trouble and UK can’t shoot. It is worth a try to make a team adjust. Until he has the horses to play man all of the time he needs a smoke and mirrors type plan.

Going zone against a team that's killing you on offensive boards is probably not a good strategy.
Good article by JJ summarizing the state of the Hoosiers after the initial 11 games. Count me as disappointed but not ready to give up on the season. Wondering if the Hoosiers can get any help from the guys who have been out of action as a result of injuries. Can a Jason Drake or Josh Harris provide a boost if they see action? Like the idea of Reed Bailey playing further away from the basket and taking a couple of 3's per game as he doesn't seem destined to scare Big 10 frontlines much with his around the basket game. As the team is so thin on depth any injuries to the first 8 could lead to devastating results. Am interested to see how DeVries handles the team over the remaining 20 plus games.
@scam-likely ….agree but we are going to get killed on the glass no matter what defense we play.
I think we have to be careful to not expect Cignetti or May results. I was never to hot on Enright, or the lack of a big man. About the only guys I was high on were Wilkerson, Conerway, and Bailey. The rest of them were just....meh for me. Could use a better PG and big man. I wonder if DD was holding two schollies back for Goode and Leal, or boosters weren't willing to shell out that NIL $$$ for a new coach.

A lot of big donors want to see some wins first. Still have good money but not at the top atm.
The mega donors that flushed money down the toilet to prop the fraud Woodson are probably mostly out at this point, as well.
@auburnhoosier From everthing I remember reading, he would have kept Goode and Leal if their waivers had been granted.
He still could add a player. Other schools do.
Was hoping to hear it.

Those donors are not "true fans" and it was never about winning to them. It was politics.
I expect around middle of the pack in the B1G (.500ish) ... and another season on the bubble. Shit, Woody accomplished that a few times.
Nothing about this hire excited me and it is basically living up to what I expected which is just more of the same. We seem to fire coaches and either hire someone worse or at the same level. Going to be very hard to get even a little excited until or if DD can prove he will be any different than woodson.

That is beyond obvious as they gave quinn and woodson open wallets even after seeing woodson results for three years. Now the wallets are closed again because the cigars and wine with woodson are now gone. It was always about access and hanging out with the old boys club.
Well, the vaunted 'largest alumni base' is supposed to get the NIL for us.
I hear that over and over. So, we should be good.
So far the new coach has tried to connect, but he's not naturally super charismatic. So it will take winning. Chicken and the egg issue.
Wins against Chicago State and Sienna aren't going to move the needle. Even blowouts.
Have to show up when games have the fans excited, such as for Kentucky or Louisville. We didn't.
TIRED of losing to any 'name' team.
I hope the hardest working coach in the basketball show business can find better adjustments the rest of the way. (I actually am still reasonably optimistic that he will. Over time anyway. But some of my faith has been shaken.)
