Everything You Need to Know About IU Basketball Today
1. Sam Alexis is Eligible
This saga is not completely settled but for now, Sam Alexis is eligible. The NCAA is appealing the decision but there is real hope the Hoosiers will have Sam Alexis for the 2026-2027 season. He was part of the same ruling that granted eligibility to Kellan Wyatt and Stephen Daley.

2. Practice Officially Underway
With the exhibition opener less than three weeks away (October 11 at Hinkle Fieldhouse against Butler), the team officially began practice.

3. Jason Gardner Jr. to Announce Commitment
In case anyone was wondering, Fishers High School point guard Jason Gardner Jr. is expected to commit to Auburn today. IU is listed as a finalist but the Hoosiers never really pursued Gardner and I don't think there was ever real interest from either side. He's an extremely quick guard but his perimeter shooting is a major weakness and caused many high majors (including IU) to look elsewhere.
