@mushroomgod This team has demonstrated repeatedly that they have a low basketball IQ and it has cost them in multiple games that were winnable with last night against USC just being the latest example. It’s not a great reflection of DD’s coaching ability. Anyone not acknowledging that right now is in denial…
Not quite the gloating opportunity you think it is, hoss. We all almost saw it come true again today…
would’ve made your weekend. You care more about being right than IU winning

LOL. Just ask the friends and family who I watch and go to the games with. They’ll tell you I care so much about IU winning that it’s probably taken years off of my life. And newsflash: I was already proven right when I started this thread to begin with. When someone shows you who they are, believe them. Make no mistake, DeVries has shown us who he is. Just like Woodson. Just like Miller. Just like Crean and Davis. At the end of the day, I can’t help it that I don’t have the same capacity for self-delusion that you and some others on here apparently do. And if you have a problem with that then you can…well, you know.

Amen brother. Amen. Hope they enjoy their mediocre soup
@jj_mcclure insufferable, why watch just to complain?
CDD has shown us who he is? That's the thought of a simpleton. I don’t know if he is going to be successful. But there is a lot that has to happen before we declare on a message board. Perhaps he gets a chance to recruit and build a roster? Maybe play in a tournament or two?
But going with your reactionary takes, CDD just beat Painter, Cronnin, Gard, found ways to win games that were lost and has a team that plays with effort and a dash of consistency. And he isn't a wierdo. It's been since Sampson that IU has done any of that (Sampson was actually a weirdo).
I guess hoping CDD fails and gloating about is a safer play. I'm realistic about this program being irrelevant. CDD is establishing a bit of progress, consistency and stability that is desperately needed.

I would agree with you that we need consistency and stability. But what does that mean to you? And how can you already determine that DD has brought that? I mean if it's premature to judge whether he will be successful and premature to show him the door is it not then also premature to award him the label of consistency and stability? I mean fair is fair. If it's too small a sample size then that goes across the board doesn't it ? Without looking I'd bet Archie , Woody and Crean could boast wins similar to DD and we know how those chapters ended. I think it's safer to argue "it's still early". Season isn't over let's wait and see where we are at at seasons end and end of portal week. If we are using that logic. Because just as you can justify in your mind that he's brought stability and consistency I can argue the opposite.
@hoosiers94 you sound less crazy. Yes, it's too early. I agree. But the improvement is obvious.
Sam Alexis is an example. This kid has developed and CDD found a way to take advantage of a mismatch yesterday. I know that's nothing special, but I haven't seen that type of adjustment by an IU coach since Sampson.
And these close games of late, IU is not getting outclassed by the other coach. That's new around here.
Tucker is playing out of position because he has to for this team to win. That could've gone a different way.

you know we could do without all the wisecracks. I try to have a dialogue and you just can't help yourself. Cmon man. a different opinion doesn't make one crazy. And I'm quite certain you're not the judge and the jury of that.
but yes adjustments with match ups should be coaching 101 no? And yes I agree woody had no clue how to do this. Or rather he did not work hard enough to evaluate his opponents to recognize or become aware of the matchup exploitations he could implement

so what does consistency and stability mean to you ? And just finding one mismatch in personnel in one game and using Tucker where he needs to be used because of our limitations also because of his limitations is a good marriage. You didn't answer the question.
@hoosiers94 5 of 6 in the back half of a B10 season is a sign. Figuring out how to get what you can out of Lamar. Bringing Bailey and Conerway off the bench. Not flinching or getting out schemed at the end of games. Recruiting seems to be purposeful, but still so early.
