Its pretty clear they have made a massive investment in DD. 5 million a year salary and bags of money to get top players. There cannot be an excuses next year he needs to perform and that doesn't mean just slipping in on the bubble. Like solidly in with 24 or 25 wins perform. Im not going to start talking big ten titles some btown banners guys thats crazy talk right but top five should be the expectation.

What I know about any of these guys would fit in a thimble, but they're all reasonably productive from P4/5 major programs, which wasn't what we saw last year with all the wounded mid-major pickups. On paper anyway, we should be markedly improved, and also have some momentum for the year following if we can keep everyone healthy and happy.

They're not investing all this to not win. I don't know why ppl think that. Either DDV delivers or he'll be canned. Its simple. This isn't Woodson with his croney good ole boys club.
The team was unwatchable this year for me. I’m actually pretty excited about next years squad. I’ll judge DD after next season. Sweet 16 or bust, LFG…..

I guess Aiden Sherrell really did want to play the 4 and IU made sure he is able to do that. Out of nowhere, 7'2" SMU transfer Samet Yigitoglu just committed to IU. He apparently had a Zoom meeting and didn't need to take any further time. MSU wanted him but IU snagged him, presumably with a large offer to pair him with Sherrell (we certainly hope).
I did not see this coming, I'll get his commitment piece written as soon as possible.
Looking forward to hearing Fisch handle that name.

as i said in the roster thread, i love this add. elite at the rim. elite offensive rebounder. nearly 63% eFG%...i think their ideal move is yigitoglu, sherrell and rancik in a rotation at the 4/5 and boy would it be nice to have 6'10, 255, 7'2, 270 and 6'11, 220 around the rim.
id rather have Bailey and Conor.

Agreed! Burton is the only player on the roster who is a proven scorer. I'm a little uncomfortable betting on potential to be a scorer.

The hype is going to be sky high just like after Woodsons last portal team. Anything less than a top 5 big ten finish will be an underachievement. We clearly have one of the bigger bags in the ncaa. Feel bad for smaller schools think the days of the ncaa Cinderella making deep runs are over. They dont have the cash to compete.

agreed .. it all sounds awesome. But broken down still a lot of holes. Hopefully they can plug them. And then he has to lead them to victory which to me is a bigger issue
The longer this drags on with Sherrell, I’m getting the impression that he must like the money being offered, but the idea of playing for IU? Not so much. Seriously, though, what is the f***ing problem here?
