I am not ready to blame coaching - he missed on some guys and that happens in the portal - I do think he is gonna lose Sisley. Team sucks, so he should just play Trent , and Ristic to some extent, and keep them. Last thing DD or IU needs is their only Indiana kid telling others not to come.Even if IU were to get a surge in NIL support from big money boosters that leads to better talent acquisition, that won’t lead to much greater success if the head coach is bad. We saw this with Woodson in his final season.
At this point, all NIL donations should go to football. Basketball just doesn’t bring in the revenue and attention that football does. There is a reason why Texas and Texas A&M have the largest athletic budgets in the country while Kansas and Duke are way down the list.

@hoosiers94 I don't know about learning anything from me...there are so many others that go through things WAY worse than me. I think most everyone tries to do the best they can with whatever hand they are dealt. Back on the topic at hand...
You mentioned Quinn Buckner earlier and I am VERY confident that Buckner had nothing to do with Ryan Carr's hire or with Carr's interest in the job. That's at least something positive.
Not really - I just coached HS for 16 years and you can tell DD has good stuff in place, just not the guys to execute it =. If you watch off ball stuff versus just watching the ball, you will see it - except when things go bad, all the movement stops. what killed us last night.I am not ready to blame coaching - he missed on some guys and that happens in the portal - I do think he is gonna lose Sisley. yeah, I see it, when it happens which is the problem I have with him. It's been 28 games and he hasn't figured out how to get them to not do that ... and against NW. and he chose these cats. So you have to hope Carr handles that part now
I know nothing about the guy or how good/bad his relationship is with DD, but, judging by his limited minutes in the last several games, I tend to agree.Im betting we lose Sisley - just a hunch
I don't think Sisley should be getting 36 mpg, but it's like he's been relegated to walk-on status. Something's up we don't know about, imo.
He's a freshman. Never expected too much from him. If he can't pay his dues and earn his playing time, best he moves on.
If Sisley is in for that long, long scoring drought, I'm betting we win that game. But, Coach felt differently and he's the one who's ass is in the seat and knows the game.
We should clean up in the portal. We can offer starter minutes at every position!

I don't know how true this is so take it with a grain of salt, but there are ppl on some other sites/chats who are close with the family and they indicate there aren't any problems outside of freshman struggles. They indicate the family is all in on IU and have no issues with the current staff.
@surjay That is the indication, both publicly and privately. I don't expect Trent Sisley to leave IU this offseason. Things can change but there has never been any indication that he's bolting.
A few names to add. These are players that are rumored to be transferring:
Jordan Burks - UCF Knights - 1 year left - 6'9" forward originally from Alabama, averaging 13.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, shooting 39.7% from 3 on nearly 5 attempts per game with a team-best 6.9 BPM (Bayesian Performance Metric). Of note, Burks played 2024-2025 at Georgetown with Kenny Johnson as an assistant.
Brett Decker Jr. - Liberty Flames - 2 years left - I heard in an interview that Ryan Carr has twins that go to Liberty and one is a manager there. Decker is a 6'3" sophomore that jumped from 4 to 16 points per game from freshman to sophomore. He's not a well-rounded player but he's shooting 46.6% from 3 on 163 attempts and Liberty is 23-5.
Samson Aletan - Yale Bulldogs - 1 year left - 6'10" with a block rate of 6.9 plus he's a solid rebounder on a Yale team that is 20-5. No discernible connection to IU.
Nolan Minessale - St. Thomas-Minnesota Tommies - 2 years left - have you heard of the Tommies? They are in the Summit League and are actually having a really nice season. Minessale is a 6'5" forward that is getting some NBA Draft mention but he's way more likely to portal to a higher level. 19.9 points per game and a very intelligent and skilled passer. He's not great from three but a skilled scorer.
Far outside my area of expertise but I feel like these stats from tiny programs are pretty meaningless? How many times do they fail to translate when the player has to face P4-level opponents?
If someone is getting NBA interest that says more to me than specific stats.
Also let's pass on anyone with any hint of chronic illness or injuries. This isn't the island of misfit toys, we're not here to rehab or fix broken players.
@tjinman1987 I hope you’re 100% correct on any Buckner connection. The sooner that idiot goes away, the better.
I would give this 100 👍 if I could. The sooner that idiot goes away, the better.
