@bigmike In a perfect world I agree but I'll take whoever we can get that will move us 5-10 places up in the conference and get us to a S16 or better. This was the goal set for the program: win the conference and complete for a title. If they are guys who can give us more than a year that's gravy but we've got to break out of the doldrums and get back to being a program that will attract more of the better players in the first place.
@ams66 With the coaching staff settled in, the hiring of Carr and lessons learned from year one, I expect the portal recruiting to have more focus on the specific needs to be successful. IU may have to over pay the market price to get a high caliber player or two. Will be an interesting April of portal recruiting.
Two or three very good very athletic bigs, a great fast guard, two great shooters.
Thats all. An entire roster of higher end guys. Cant see us affording all of that, if they are out there.
This may be a long rebuild. Again.

Do you know if DeVries even tried to get any of his players to come with him to Indiana?Haven't you noticed that no one from WVU came with DeVries, sans his son? I don't think the lure to play for DD is that strong.Amani Hansberry... Virginia Tech... Played for DeVries at WVU. Obviously the question would be why isn't he already at IU? But he's been a very productive big this year for Va Tech. Bigger body, physical. He'll be in high demand if he portals.
@mushroomgod Kentucky reportedly spent about 22M and may miss the tourney as well.
Popes seat will get hot a lot faster than DeVries seat. Kentucky cares about their basketball. He will need some final eights or better within a few years. We just need a tourney appearance.

I know nothing about the internal thoughts of Sisley either, but what I do see is a player who is still very engaged and who's real fit is the same position as Tucker DeVries. I feel like he should have played more minutes, continuning to get some by playing along Tucker, but IU desperately needed Dorn as a third scoring option.I know nothing about the guy or how good/bad his relationship is with DD, but, judging by his limited minutes in the last several games, I tend to agree.Im betting we lose Sisley - just a hunch
I don't think Sisley should be getting 36 mpg, but it's like he's been relegated to walk-on status. Something's up we don't know about, imo.
I don't know how true this is so take it with a grain of salt, but there are ppl on some other sites/chats who are close with the family and they indicate there aren't any problems outside of freshman struggles. They indicate the family is all in on IU and have no issues with the current staff.
This coach and team are exactly why we thought!
CDD: 19-13 last yr- near that this yr
LW: maybe better than I anticipated
TD: not as good a shooter as I anticipated
Enrigjt - is what he is- would be a nice 7-8 man
Conerway- not good
Baily- not a 5
Alexis- became our 2nd best player

what I thought and expected when we hired a new coach .. I thought the philosophy is to hire a coach who can improve the team/results. That's what I thought. I didn't think we'd get the same results .. a skosh worse actually than we had last year ... that's what I thought. So you're telling me the day after DD was hired you thought we'd be a middling big ten team outside of the dance again ? I don't believe that.
@hoosiers94 why is this hard to beleive with the roster we had? Did you think this team w zero size would be a top 5 conference team?
now, not gonna lie, I did think, w our schedule, this team would make the dance. I had zero expectations past that. I’ve said many times, a team of mid majors cannot win in this conference- period-

Yeah I get what you thought after this coach assembled and picked this piss poor roster but what did you think the day they hired him ? Not after he ineptly put this roster together.
I'm not trying to bust your chops. Curious
@hoosiers94 It's fascinating how some focus on the poor roster ... while completely discounting who constructed it.
When the team was constructed last spring, the absence of impact Bigs on the roster was a major red flag. If IU were to make the NCAA tournament it would have to play great defense, minimize turnovers, keep opponents off the boards, and make 3's at an elite level. Most disappointing, the highly acclaimed distance shooters as a team are at 34.6% through 31 games which ranks 10th in the Big 10 and outside the NCAA top 150. Other than Wilkerson and Dorn when he was on his hot streak, there's not one other player on the roster that is a good distance sniper.
@hoosiers94 I was numb w the hire. Did t know enough about him, and to me, winning at Drake was similar to winning at Dayton, only he started it. His teams looked tough at WV, as I watched them beat some good teams. Overall, I liked him bc he is normal compared to the last couple guys. I still hold out some hope he will be good here, but the results as the season wore on concern me
like I said, if next yr is similar and IU is sweating to ncaa, I’ll be fully on board w cutting ties
... If IU were to make the NCAA tournament it would have to play great defense, minimize turnovers, keep opponents off the boards, and make 3's at an elite level. ...I think we did middle of the road in one of those. We didnt seem particularly turnover prone. (Last game first half we were.)
