After some optimism and Luke Goode practicing with the team...the Indiana native's waiver was denied and he is not going to pursue an additional year any further. IU is at 12 scholarship players.
It'll be interesting to hear what the reasons were...if they give reasons. Seemed like a foregone conclusion that he'd get the waiver, compared to some of the other ones that have been approved lately. But its the NCAA, don't assume anything.

"It's Indiana."
Good. I'm sick of this Wild West nonsense of guys getting five or more years; it's bordering on the absurd.
This isn't a critique of Goode; he was the only one who consistently gave a sh*t last season and actually cared about IU hoops. But four years is four years.
@gthomas I mostly get what you’re saying about the absurdity of the kids getting extra years. This one seems odd, though. Goode’s case was simply that he played his games at the end of the year instead of the beginning of the year but still met the 30% threshold. Yet, in football, any player can play up to four games at any point in the season and still qualify for a redshirt for that year. The inconsistency is what is infuriating with the NCAA.
@hoosier-nati Yes, Luke played 10 of 35 games in 2022/23 for Illinois which is under 30% criteria. He got "punished" for playing in games at the end of the season. I don't understand the different treatment between football and basketball.
Will DeVries try to add another player to the 2025/26 roster?

The NCAA gave that UL kid another year and I read he played at the end of the season. I don’t get it. The NCAA sucks.
This program needs to start 100% fresh imho! No more Woody inspiration! Goode was good in his IU tenure, but tome to move on to whatever these so-called woke millennials want to watch smfh!
https://twitter.com/anthonyl3al/status/1945194045707337860?s=46 @hoosieralum07 ya this is a 100% fresh start now. Leal is selling everything he has ever owned at IU. lol. Man this guy has no pride.
Losing one of the the top 5 three point shooters in Big Ten play last season is a kick to the nuts by the NCAA.
Best of luck to Luke on his future endeavors and thanks for filling it up from three last season for the Hoosiers.
