that's on the coaches

I agree for the most part. I think it's also somewhat our mid-major players who are used to the game being decided if you get a 16-pt lead. But yes you have to have coaches like Cig who preach "break their will." It's not about kicking someone when they are down or running up the score it's about respecting the opponent enough to say that we aren't going to start taking this game for granted.

Cignetti has exposed just how bad IU’s other coaches are. Even Moren and Yeagley look mid in comparison.

This is an athletics department propped up by a unicorn.

it's been a great spin job that's for sure.  Calling mediocrity great has been our problem

This program is perpetually stuck in neutral. This was a must win to make the tournament.

We can probably beat iowa at home but MS and Michigan on the road are likely losses. Ncaa bubble is likely the ceiling

I think we might still pull off a few upset wins but nothing can be taken for granted at this point. They haven't earned that. Felt like we were in a position to win today and we let it slip away.

@boomstick…. I liked the hire at first but now I’m starting to get that vibe.

Felt like?  We were up 16 in the second half at Assembly Hall.  Here's what Grok says:

Indiana University men's basketball has lost very few—and based on available historical accounts and reports, likely zero or at most one—games at home in the past 50 years (since approximately 1976) when leading by 15 or more points in the second half.

@dbmhoosier Yes, against the #10 undefeated team who was on a 19-game (now 20) win streak. 16 points isn't a lot with 10+ minutes to go vs a team that can hit the 3. And they can and did. We needed to break their will, and we didn't.

But I honestly think we win by 20, maybe 30 today with a consistent, evenly officiated game.

So the refs cost IU 30+ points? Gotcha.

I don't think you can lump Moren in there because she's having a down/transitional year. There is NO IU women's basketball program without what she's done. They accomplished nothing before her.

They likely have the best recruiting class in IU women's history coming in next year as well. They will rise back to the top.

Yeagley is ok but NCAA soccer has changed dramatically to what it was when his dad was coaching.

Its a stretch to act like all sports programs are trash except football and not realistic.  Men's Basketball is and has been the exception and the true stain on the athletic department the past 30 years.

as far as Soccer.  Todd is a great coach.  The sport has taken off the last 25 years. It's harder for them to land the best players from wherever they wanted.  I endorse Todd ... having played for his dad and with him. He's up there.

Nah, can't blame them for the loss as IU should have won regardless. The refs absolutely made a blowout a close game, though and its hard to not think it wasn't intentional.

B1G refs always suck, though, so you have to deal with it.
