@tammany I would push back a little bit by saying the returns so far aren’t great, the outlook is murky.
As we sit today, we’re a bubble team That isn’t a good start for CDD. No way to sugar coat that. But 1)season isnt over, we’ve only played 2 B10 games. And we HAVE seen good enough basketball from this team, to be a solid NCAA 2nd weekend contending team. Just haven’t seen enough of it. 2)even if they miss the NCAA, he’s not getting fired, and he shouldn’t 3)Even if we miss NCAA that doesn’t mean he can’t or won’t improve the roster this spring well enough to take that next step Forward. I don’t think him not having to get 11 guys from the portal this next spring is given enough consideration on this board. Hell return some solid prices, he has a couple athletic wings coming in the 26 class…he’ll only be needing 5-6 portal guys total. Maybe that allows for a couple higher end guys this year? Maybe he’s more able to fish in the impactful big man waters?
Not a great start. But still optimistic about his future. I LOVE some of the concepts and principles Im seeing him implement.
I came to read the game thread, but somehow found the "crying over spilled milk - IU BB edition" thread.
Ya'll reckon we ought to make a specific thread dedicated to the topic?
A good friend will bail you out of jail, but your best friend will be sitting next to you in the cell saying "that was f***ing awesome"
@thehoosierhuddle You are providing some reality to the situation. IU fans are going to need to hang in there with DD. No way he's gone after a year. Perhaps he will surprise us all and turn this team around.
Welcome to IU basketball Internet fandom. The sky is always falling, the bottom is always dropping out, and the AD always needs firing. The only thing that will fix the program is a Brink's truck.

there is no chance in hell we make it to the 2nd weekend of the tournament this year. No chance. What the heck are watching. And even if he keeps 5/6 players are they any good and would you pick them all over again do they put you in the tournament??
lots of ifs. The biggest "if" is can he coach. Thus far on game adjustments are lacking and we can't even run an out of bounds play. We have a mantra in AAU. Playing against inferior teams that are especially athletic but very undisciplined... those games and the points scored don't count. Because it's not a game that's going to help you get better other than the fast pace conditioning. That's the only thing you get from those games. So we've watch them play 2 teams with any chance of the tournament and they were anything but positive. You say we only lost to Louisville by 9. Rewatch the game. They backed off the entire 2nd half. The toyed with us. No prayer of 2nd weekend

IKR? I mean as tough as it's been to watch us churn through 8 head coaches in a mostly floundering 25 years, it's even tougher to read some of the shinola that gets posted. If it's not the constant lament over mis-fires and mis-hires coming from the Coulda/Woulda/Shoulda brigade, it's the incessantly ominous soothsaying coming in fast from the Couldn't/Wouldn't/Shouldn't armada.
Meanwhile in the reality of the present, the rest of us see a guy who's 12 games into his 3rd gig in under 3 years...doing it with a roster of exactly zero minutes returning from the year prior, the only familiar face being his own kid who followed him here.
Anybody who expected anything other than tough sledding was kidding themselves, and anyone already suggesting a coaching change just isn't a serious person.

what else is there to talk about? I’m serious.
actual basketball talk is just a boring time killer to what lurks under the surface. If anything here has been proven correct is that it’s ok to be early in one’s negativity .
@gerdis Football? I am half joking haha. In all seriousness though, there is just nothing to talk about with hoops. Recruiting, maybe? We all have dissected this team and until they get back into conference play, there's just not much that's changing.
