@thehoosierhuddle I like this move because of his backup status. Welcome to IU Mr. Sokolov!!!
While I regarded God as a tyrant I thought my sin a trifle; But when I knew Him to be my Father, then I mourned that I could ever have kicked against Him. When I thought God was hard, I found it easy to sin; but when I found God so kind, so good, so overflowing with compassion, I smote upon my breast to think that I could ever have rebelled against One who loved me so, and sought my good.” C. H. Spurgeon
Is this another foreign project like the kind we’ve seen before or will he actually contribute?
I like big foreign dudes. He’s better than Bailey and I haven’t ever seen him play.
@jj_mcclure how many kids play that are the 11th or 12th kid on the bench? Be grateful we have another 7 footer and hope he stays 3 yrs

Well, he is....tall. That's a start. Plus, not going to have a guy upset about minutes. Add a positive aditude and you have a trifecta.
I hope he's better than Priller was.

Sokolov is a 7-footer that, at minimum, will be able to provide size for interior players to compete against in practice but expectations should be kept in check on what he should be expected to contribute in games. For context, Washington star Hannes Steinbach played in the same league and averaged 27.9 points per game and 12 rebounds per contest at the same age.
The kid might develop over a couple years. Looks like he understands he needs to board, defend. If he gets the coordination to go with the big frame could be alright.
This is an OK reach. Reach on freshman, not upperclassmen.

Hey, somebody’s gotta sit at the end of the bench and not got many minutes and if he stays 3 yrs and maybe turns into something, well alright then!

Absolutes; 7 ft., FROSH!
Great, DeVries has added #11 to the roster. Sokolov may well need some time and additional coaching before being able to contribute during game time. That's fine as he's a soon to be 19 year old developmental player.
@tr32 He's a big body. I saw energy, ski hooks, and floaters. I see a lot of development potential. Let's see what Devries can do with it.
