@gr8iufan Zach Edey is quite a story. He was buried on the bench at IMG Academy by several future NBA players. Coming out of high school, Edey chose Purdue over Baylor. Got to give Painter and his staff much credit for developing Edey. As a frosh, Edey was a solid contributor to the Boilermakers averaging 8.7 ppg and 4.4 rpg as a bench player.

Hoping the IU fans don't expect much production from Sokolov next year as it's possible he may struggle to find time on the court.

Davis and Crean brought in some of these types. I don't think one ever contributed.

no chance this guy sniffs those numbers this year.  And hence is no where near the player Edey was/is at any point.

@tr32 He's a big body. I saw energy, ski hooks, and floaters. I see a lot of development potential. Let's see what Devries can do with it.

Yes, that's fine.  Good to have a 7-footer for depth and see if he can develop.

I'd like to see them get a Race Thompson kind of PF to be available for 15-20mpg.  But may not happen.

As far as guards, the key question is just, who can handle to ball?  If someone besides the ND kid can bring the ball up, then there is room for developmental guards too.  But I think they probably still need a juco PG or something.

Hey, somebody’s gotta sit at the end of the bench and not got many minutes and if he stays 3 yrs and maybe turns into something, well alright then!

like lindeman mandeville Smile

Lindeman was a project from day one. Mandeville was highly ranked but was mostly a bust. And actually lindeman did more than mandeville ever did which is not saying much

This is the off-season! Hope springs eternal! This kid is going to make a huge gain in his first year and be a force! Eventually.

Was feeling good about our team, who we grabbed. Then it stalled. I guess everybody is after the mythical mid or lower priced, mid or lower level players who are 'under the radar' but can really play. LOL Likely the mid or lower level guys are still high priced. We have minutes, I think someone would want them.

Not a bad pickup if DeVries and Carr did their diligence at all. Can't teach size.

Imposssible to build a roster via the portal that is perfect in every way. Money, even if we have a lot, is not unlimited and you have to pick from who is available. So far the roster appears to be an improvement over last year and addresses at least some of the concerns from last year.  Just going to have to wait and see how it fills out and how they play and develop as a team.

Except that literally no one is hyping Sokolov up to be anything other than a depth piece.  But go on...

I may be wrong but this seems like a NSFW post.
