Nah - At least this coach will stay in contact with his recruits.
I sure hope the 4 high school recruits didn't watch the Northwestern game.
@bigmike You can be sure all their friends will be ribbing them tomorrow at school.
Woody was an awful coach, but at least he had enough "juice" to get some studs (though he didn't know what to do with them).
@tjinman1987 Read that Trey Beamer 4 star 2026 point guard, decommitted from Boston College. Does IU have any connections or interests where they could be a player for his services?
Was just curious but assume IU might consider adding another freshmen in next years recruiting class if he were a high profile big. A frosh PG?
@gthomas The only thing CMW had to offer prospects was $$. Give CDD the budget CMW had and he'll do better things. Don't know if he's "the guy", but he's a much better coach.
@bigmike No connections that I am aware of and I have not heard that IU is pursuing any of the BC players. I do think IU adds more to the incoming freshmen class but those one or two players will be of the international variety.
Regarding the 3 high school players coming in next year, I'd rank them in the following order in their ability to contribute on the court during 2026/27: Alexander-Moody, Manhertz, and Karvala. I have seen Karvala and he appears to not be prepared to play at the collegiate level. Manhertz is a good player on a poor high school team. He re-classified from 2027 to 2026. Alexander-Moody has performed the best of the 3 and has played some tough competition.
I don't pretend to be an expert assessor of talent but am just sharing my opinion based through primarily watching streamed games and YouTube videos.
For those who have had the opportunity to see any of these guys in action, what do you think of them as players?
@bigmike I think Krvala will play - kid can score and he is athletic - Moody can play as well - Manhertz, while very talented - will have to put on some lbs
Thanks for the comments. When a high school player like Manhertz re-classifies one concern is physical readiness. A few articles list his size as 6'9" and 185 pounds. Look at him in a video and he sure is slight of build. Not sure he'll be ready for big time ball next year but maybe he'll surprise us.@bigmike I think Krvala will play - kid can score and he is athletic - Moody can play as well - Manhertz, while very talented - will have to put on some lbs
I've had a chance to see Karvala play at the LaPorte Invitational in two games plus checked him out on a couple games that were streamed on YouTube. He's 6'7" and very athletic as you stated. For his senior year he transferred out of his Wisconsin high school program and is playing at Bella Vista Prep.

That was my reaction also, kid needs to drink a gallon of milk a day and live in the weight room this summer.
On Sunday, March 15, noon on FS-1 (check your TV listings), the 2026 EYBL Scholastic Tournament championship game will be played. You'll get to see future Hoosier, Vaughn Karvala as his Bella Vista team goes for the crown.
Karvala is a high end prospect. Wont surprise me at all next year if he plays decent minutes as a small wing. He looks highest end potential of our three, but all can play.
It will bother me a lot next year if we dont roll the freshman plenty of minutes. Id rather lose a couple extra games than be above average with portal guys who are leaving. Now hopefully our portal guys will be multiple year guys too so then thats different. To win we need a two or three and done level freshman in most classes. If they dont play, they are below that.
