Yeah, I've heard you over and over say that's the problem. Not having expectations. Or something like that...this response is the problem with IU basketball. Give em one more year he'll figure it out. Unreasonable to expect that ... nonsense. Single digit losses is not something that is unreasonable in any year. That's 5 more wins... a better coach , who can assemble a better roster and we are there.
And, I say over and over it's ridiculous to say single digit losses by year two, or we didn't do well. Not that we can't.
As long as you put other schools into 'the athletic department and basketball support or coaching sucks category, fine...
You should slam Kentucky, who didn't do single digit three of the last four years of Calipari, nor the first or second years under Pope. Or slam Ohio State who hasn't done single digit for years. Or slam UCLA who took until year three under Cronin, then after those two years, lost 17 games. And this season didn't do single digit losses. Slam Wisconsin. Although their twice in 10 years means it's expected every year I guess?
But "IT'S INDIANA!" ...
Of course we CAN get to a string of single digit loss seasons. If we do, we're back.
,
I don't give a rats ass about any other program than IU. If you do , that about figures,
if you want to continue to excuse mediocrity go for it.. it's what perpetual losers do... I for one don't tolerate it. In my companies if you were mediocre I let you go and quick. It's the complacent and trophy for everyone philosophy. I know when I smell a turd
Good to have some clarity on the admin's expectations. What a joke.Damage control.
he just endorsed a losing mentality.
You really think, for example, three straight 23-9 seasons means IU is back? Back to what, slightly above average?Of course we CAN get to a string of single digit loss seasons. If we do, we're back.
It really is stunning how far we have fallen. Knight basically got run out of town because he was putting up 22-10 records and losing in the first or second round of the NCAA. They will say its because he broke the impossible double secret probation but lets be honest if he was still making final fours they would not have fired him. Now if we went 22-10 many would be doing cartwheels. Amazing fall from grace.
I don't know, Myles Brand really had it in for RMK no matter what. He didn't want the basketball coach to be the face of the university. He possibly could not have withstood the heat though if he was still winning championships. The trustees or the governor might have overruled him.
Would have appreciated a more honest comment such as ... we've got some serious work to do in the portal this April in order to build a more competitive team.Good to have some clarity on the admin's expectations. What a joke.Damage control.

The fanbase has tired of constant mediocrity and mismanagement
So you're one of those who refuses to even see the landscape, before proclaiming their opinion as the right one? That figures too.I don't give a rats ass about any other program than IU. If you do , that about figures,
... Myles Brand ...I use that name as a swear word.
I remember one of the Indy Star cartoonists when Brand left/retired. Showed him walking away smugly, saying 'my work here is done' and behind him the University is in flames. So true.
He definitely underestimated the talent level of the B1G.
It still blows my mind that he did not know what us fans have known for years. Did he do no research? Did he never watch any film on the big ten?
Damage control.
Of course dolson will defend him this is his hire he is not going to say anything bad about him after one year. I do not really care what your standards are I care about what the results are. Fred Glass claimed to have " national championship" standards and we got NIT results
If Dolson had high standards he would have hired a proven P5 coach. Money would have been no issue.

101. Fireable offense
In my life, for almost anything I've attempted, thinking I know, or watching TV/videos, is not the same as doing. Any coach or player is going to need an adjustment period when moving to a higher level of competition.

You and me do not make 5 million a year. When you make that kind of money I kind of expect you to not say how surprised you are about the level of play. You are supposed to already know that going in.

He was in the B12 last year which was the highest rated conference by far.
These statements reek more of a over-adjustment to Woodson-speak who would have proclaimed this a great and highly successful year that needed no adjustments by the staff.

The fact he did not already know this tells me he is not prepared at all and is very concerning. Maybe he will adjust we will see but this is stuff he should have already known.
It's a standard theme here how physical the B1G is and it is unlike other conferences and that's why we never win Nattys anymore.
